I recently went to one and walked away with some cash. Its a good idea for some extra wedding $$!

just be careful!  I heard they tend to only give you 30-40% of what is actually worth.  You can find a reputable seller that will give you more than 80% with some research.

Its true. If you bring it to a jewelry store you will get more.

I think Stacey is referring to the actual cashforgold.com - I assume that Cher's sister is just using that phrase for her party, and not using someone from the company. But, cash4gold.com has been known to not be the best out there for selling gold, local jewelers will give a better rate.  Cher, who is your sister using for the party?

they should be able to tell you how much per ounce gold is going for right now and then tell you how much of that you will get for yours.  I had no idea either until i was trying to find a place to sell coins and i was on a few collector sites and found some professional org links. When i got there he let me know how much sliver and gold were going for, weighed everything and gave me 85% of its worth.  He said no matter what you do do not use those cash for gold things bc they are scams and give you 25% at best 30something.  he said jewelers are 2nd best.  I'll see if i can find the link so at least maybe you can call a place in your area just to ask a couple questions so that way at the party you can make sure it is legit.

Cher could mean cashforgold.com - they are going to be at a fundraiser that I'm going to in november and I don't trust them so I'm not bringing any jewelry.

I read the same thing--that these parties typically have the worst % return. But it'd still be good to at least get a quote.

well if you are interested in coming still - maybe go to a jeweler and get a quote and then come to the party if you are worried you arent getting the best deal...
