VENT: "Can I be late and you pick me up?"

A friend of mine, who is car-less because she lives in NYC always needs a ride from the train when she comes in.  Fine by me. I am not forcing her to get a cab and it is not a huge deal for me to swing by and pick her up...BUTTowards the end of my shower a few weeks ago, she basically wanted me to leave early (yes, from my own shower) so she can catch a train.  Sorry, you have to take a later train!!And NOW...the rehearsal dinner is Thursday at 5:30.  She is doing reading.  She emailed me and wants to know if she can take a train that gets her in at 5:40 instead of 5:15 because then she can put on her company calendar that she is leaving the office at 4:45 instead of 4:30 and it looks better.  I have to pick her up...so clearly no, I am not going to be late because u want to leave 15 minutes later! Not to mention, I had to take a full day off of work for her wedding last year.  not to go tit for tat. but I think she can give me 15 minutes.

Just tell her that...maybe she's just not realizing what time the rehearsal is, etc.

Can she take a cab?  Walk?  Ask someone else?  I'm somewhat sympathetic to her because I know how annoying it is to wait at a train station for an hour in the cold because you missed a train by a few minutes because of when an event ended, but she absolutely shouldn't be involving you in this.  Also, she should not be late for your rehearsal dinner for that stupid reason.

ew that is annoying. I would just mention to her - maybe chelsea is right and she's misunderstanding the time.

she knows the exact time.  she asked me in the first part of the email if there was "leeway" when it would starts like "at hers"when she says 'like at hers' she is referring to the fact that she showed up an hour late as we all sat in the church waiting for her.ugh.

I would ask one of your BMs to get her. I would think the 5:15 train would already be cutting it close.

don't let her stress you out anymore than you will be with the few days left you have. honestly, don't worry if she is late.  i'm sure she's been in a wedding or paid attention in her own wedding to know when her reading is or what to do. worst case, she's late or misses the practice. she's the one to look a fool, not you.
