Western NC Recept/Ceremony Site help!

I'm from Hendersonville/Asheville NC and have just started looking for sites for my wedding. There seems to be very few options in my area. I don't want to get married/ have my reception in a hotel banquet room or anything like that. I want a country outdoorsy feel like a barn, but that is proving to be impossible on a budget. Claxton Farms is refusing to call me back so I'm about to scratch them off my list completely. Any one know of anything?! Or anywhere that an off season (like January) wedding would still be beautiful? Thanks!

What about the Botanical Garden in Asheville?

    http://www.ashevillebotanicalgardens.org/

sorry if the link isn't clicky...

That's non-banquety. There's tons and tons of options in/around Asheville. (I'm getting married out in the mountains too)

One of the girls last year got married at Claxton - she had a beautful ceremony and wedding.  It's such a gorgeous location.  I can page her if you want to talk to her.  Her pictures are below:

I am not sure if this is helpful but Claxton Farms' barn burnt down and they are trying to rebuild it.  Not sure when your wedding date is but I think it will take about 6 months or so.  In the mean time idk their situation as far as management goes.
I wanted a outdoorsy atmosphere too and couldnt find anything in my price range in that area.  Everything I found (and fell in love with) was way too much. Have you checked Lake Lure? There is a gazebo that overlooks the lake that seats 250 under it.  The gazebo is owned by the town so the cost would be renting chairs and the permit.  I wonder if a cateror would meet you on the lawn..it beautiful out there. HTH good luck!!

Why not try posting on Craigslist and seeing if someone with a private farm would let you rent their space?  My grandmother in SC has a barn that she converted into a jumping stable and people will ask her if they can use it for weddings sometimes.  You never know what you may find :)

I definitely second romanticasheville.com, I got lots of good ideas on there when I was originally thinking about having a western NC wedding

Thanks! I've followed all of these tips so far but am still in the process of deciding on a place.

Claxton did burn down but they will be up and running again in May. It's beautiful! But by the time you add up everything they require you to use through their event planning company it is well out of my price range :-( That was my number one choice!
