Anyone been to St. Regis or Westin in Princeville, Kauai?

I posted this on the Honeymoon board, but wanted to ask here as well.  We have our choice of staying at an ocean-view, non-suite room at the St. Regis Princeville or in an efficiency apartment at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas (yay hotel points!).  Does anyone have any experience at either of these hotels?  The St. Regis looks amazing, even though we won't have a fancy suite.  But the Westin also looks really nice and we'll have a better room.  I honestly don't know how much time we'll actually be spending in our hotel room, since we plan to do a lot during the day- or at least sit by the pool/ocean.  Any thoughts you ladies have would be awesome!

I was there a few years back before the hotel became a st regis and was the princeville marriot.  They are very close to one another so I dont think you could wrong at each.  The only other large hotel on the Island is the Hyatt.  It is on the oppisite side of the island. It really depnds on your interniary.  very small island...lots of hiking, beaches, site to check out.  Very laid back island as well.  PM for any specifics

Thanks!  I've actually been to Kauai a few years ago, but we stayed in Poipu Beach.  I'm pretty familiar with the island and a lot of activities.  Just trying to nail down the hotel plans.  Can't wait to go!

We just went to Kauai for our honeymoon at stayed at the St. Regis. Amazinggggggggg hotel! We had an oceanview room and it was absolutely breathtaking waking up to that view every morning (worth the splurge). Princeville is on the other side of the island (away from most of the other hotels) so dining options were somewhat limited. We drove to Poipu one night and went to Merriman's but it was about a 45min drive - otherwise we ate at the hotel or nearby in Hanalei
