flower cost

I just got a quote from a florist I really like, and I was just wondering how much others are looking at spending on flowers.  We are getting my bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, small nosegay (whatever that is!) for flowergirl, 2 corsages, and floral centerpieces for 13 reception tables.  The quote is $1300 with tax included.  That also includes an arbor rental with floral decorations on it.  Does that sound like a fair price?
Thanks!
Heather

I haven't actually met with a florist yet, so I don't know if that's a good deal or not, but it sounds like one to me!  That seems like a lot of flowers for all of the bouquets, reception tables, and what not...I would have thought that would be a much higher quote than that....I guess it all depends on what type of flowers you are getting for that price too.  Who are you using for your florist?

when i was shopping florist i saw alot of difference in the quotes.  it usually had to do with the type of flowers and yes how many of the flowers were in the pieces and how much greenery.

That quote is from The Enchanted Florist in Asheville.  The lady I have been in contact with through email from them has been very nice and helpful, so I will most likely go with them, just wanted to double check on average costs with other brides. The flowers we are using in this package are Siberia Oriental Lilies, which I love the look of in pictures I have seen.

Oh, I bet that will be really pretty.  I don't know if I have ever seen a Siberia Oriental Lily, but I love lilies!  The board seems kinda slow tonight, but hopefully someone can give you a better idea in the morning if that is a good quote or not.  GL!

That seems reasonable to me. The quality and types of flowers can greatly change the costs. So, some people could post saying they only spent $300 on flowers, but they prob. wouldn't be getting the same kind of things. The fact that you are getting 13 centerpieces with that price PLUS all of your other wedding party flowers sounds good!

It really depends on what flowers you use. Peonies are wonderful but EXPENSIVE. Here's what I spent, if it helps:

    300 White tulips
    100 Orange tulips
    50 White large calla lillies

    $500

I ordered them all from fiftyflowers.com and had them delivered the Thursday before the wedding- I arranged all the bouquets myself (1 for me and 6bms, and made all the bouts) then all the leftovers were put in vases on our tables.

not the best photos- but you get the idea

personally, IMO, $1300 is ridiculous for flowers, especially when they just get trashed in the end. I am doing the same as Jessica either through Sams or fiftyflowers.com and we are doing daisies. 4 bridesmaids bouquets, my bouquet, 6 centerpieces and left over flowers for other table decor.....i am only spending $300 but we are getting married on the beach so i wanted something very simple.

i guess it just depends what kind you want, how much you are willing to spend and how extravagant of look you want.....

Flowers are different depending on the season and what type of flowers you use – here’s what we did: My bouquet – roses callies and some other mix of in season flowers $100Men’s Bouts: $10 a piece (we had 10)Corsages: $20 a Piece ( we had 6)Centerpieces: 3 sprigs of submerged hot pink orchids (we provided vases, glass marbles and candles) $20 each (we had 8)Cake Flowers: $120 (Hot Pink roses filling the spaces of the three tier cake)Church Arrangements: 2 large displays using seasonal flowers - $100 each 10% Delivery Fee Bridesmaid Flowers: Light Pink Gerbera DIY from Fifty Flowers - $179 for 80 gerberas – I had 6 girls My MIL paid for my bouquet, the boutonnieres, and the corsages from her side of the family.  My parents covered the rest.  Grand total was about $1059 much more than I expected to spend but since my MIL paid for part of it – it help offset the cost.

Yes that is a very good price! To some people it might be a lot of money, but flowers were really important to me, so I was willing to pay for them!

Thanks for the info and advice, everyone!  I think we will go with that quote.  Flowers aren't the most important thing to me, but I know if I tried to do them myself by ordering them without a florist and having to arrange them, I would be too stressed out about it right before the wedding.  The added cost is worth it for me to have one less thing to worry about. :)
