Ladies...has anyone been to Bridals by Roma in Clifton?  If so, how did it go?  I am going this week for my gown...  Thanks.

I'm sure you'll see a mixed bag of reviews. I can speak to my experience there, and I would ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER recommend going to this store after the way I was treated. Do yourself a favor and google some other reviews online, I wish I had first. I would NEVER give them  any more business or let any of my friends shop there!!!! Their customer service is the absolute worst I have ever seen or heard of in any establishment and worst of all the manager is the worst offender. If anything goes wrong trust me they will not fix it and it will be too late, they do not care about the way that they treat their customers once they have your money.

I know some girls have found their dress there and had no problem, but with something like this I would not want to take that chance. I have seen too many negative reviews and heard too many stories after the fact and it was too late for me. I wish I had known more about them before I ever considered looking there. There are much nicer, cleaner and stores with better selections, save yourself the time and effort of going here.

If you want you can read my full review of my experience I posted here,

Wow.  Thanks so much for your input... I may reconsider going there.  Sorry to hear you had such a horrible experience... I clicked on the link and read your other reviews as well.  We too are having our reception at The Manor :) and our guests will be staying next door as well.  I was happy to read your review of The Manor!!!

I think you can do much better on other bridal salons in the area, there are a ton that always get positive reviews. Obviously I'm a bit prejudice since I would never want to give them more business after the way I was treated. In the end it worked out for me (minus having to pay for the dress they messed up on me), but no one deserves to go through that.

We loved The Manor that much I can say. If you ever have questions about anything there just let me know :-)

Good luck with your dress shopping!!! I'd try Bijou Bridal, they certainly saved the day for me and had much nicer dresses than Roma anyway, and it was such a cleaner and nicer salon!!!

Haha, I just realized we've chatted before about The Manor when we were considering booking there.  We booked on Friday; we are so excited about it.  Roman was so fantastic we requested he be our maitre'd on our wedding day!  We booked our church this morning :)

    <div>Several reasons- sorry it's long...</div><div>
</div><div>My sales person was nice, but I found the owner and the manager rude and loud.  Each time I tried on a dress, I was walked to the mirrors up front where the owner and the manager were sitting.  They commented on every single style and I felt like they were pressuring me, telling me each one was "perfect."  When I tried to talk to my friends/relatives about what I liked/didn't like, the commented, disagreeing with what I didn't like.   I found a dress I loved, but I felt the lace  on it was too plain.  The same designer makes a different dress with a beaded version of the same lace.  I asked if they could order dress #1 with the lace of dress #2.  The manager said she would check, came back and said yes and quoted me an additional cost of $200. She then proceeded to offer me an additional discount if I bought it on the spot and I felt like she was pressuring me to buy it right then.  It was my first appointment and I had another scheduled that day, so I didn't bite.  </div><div>
</div><div>I then went to Park Avenue Bridals and had a completely different experience. I loved the staff and although it's not a gorgeous place, I felt it was cleaner and the samples were in better shape.  They didn't have the sample of the dress I liked and I realized after trying several on that the dress I tried at Roma was "the one"  I went back to Roma a few days later to look at the dress again and the manager told me it would cost $600 more to do the lace and claimed she never gave me the price of $200, she said she would have never quoted that price.   Based on that, I figured out the style numbers and went to Park Ave and had them order my dress.  They matched the price I was originally quoted and agreed to the free alterations Roma promised me.  </div><div>
</div><div>I had heard horror stories about the alterations at Roma and about their awful service, but gave them a shot.  They definitely lived up to their reputation as far as I'm concerned.  I felt like she lied and tried to get more money out of me because she knew I loved the dress.  Who wants to do business with someone like that?</div>

I can't believe you had such terrible experiences!  When I went a few weeks ago, I met with Joanne the manager and she was so nice, helpful, and definitely not pushy at all.  I definitely agree that the samples were not in great shape, but I knew I wasn't buying a sample, so it didn't matter.  When I did find my dress at Macy's Demetrios in Willowbrook, I went back to Roma to order it, and the price was $300 less.  I definitely would recommend Roma.

I ordered my dress and have had an ok experience thus far! Although if I had to do it again I would give the buisness to Hollywood in Kenilworth as I found my bridesmaids dresses there and the sales women won my heart...they also had my dress for $300 cheaper than Romas but it was too late to cancel.

I would recommend stopping by there simply because they tend to have two samples in two different sizes of the same dress (sometimes) and because their dresses arent extremely crowded like they are in other stores.

That being said, I wouldn't order from there, having read the bad reviews about their customer service and their prices.  When I was there, they were polite enough to me, but I also did feel somewhat pressured to make a decision and buy a dress on the spot, because they offered me a discount only available on the first visit.

I ordered my dress from Hollywood Bridal at an extremely good price!   I did not find my dress there, so I can not speak to their selection.

I shopped there for two different weddings, one I called off and my actual wedding.  The first time I went, I felt really pressured, and I felt that the saleswoman was rude and not really knowledgable.  The only reason I went back for wedding #2 was that they were the only salon in NJ who had a sample of the dress I wanted to try (and ended up buying).  My second experience there was excellent, from shopping to alterations.  I worked with a salesperson and the manager, Joanne.  Also, this past weekend we went there for my BM who just got engaged and had a similarly good experience (although she has yet to buy her dress).  I guess it's hit or miss there, but I thought that they had a lot of samples of dresses I liked that were harder to find elsewhere, so it may be worth a visit.

Thanks ladies for all your help!  Although I usually give the benefit of the doubt to people... all of these horror stories will be at the forefront of mind if I went there.  Time to check our POB in Short Hills :)
