I live in Belleville, NJ, and one of the most beautiful places to take pictures near me is Branch Brook Park. The park has about 4,000 cherry blossom trees, and in early to mid April, the cherry blossoms bloom. Its really a beautiful sight! They only bloom for a very short period of time (about 2 weeks) but after that the park is still a beautiful place for pictures. And even if your wedding doesn't take place in April, you can take engagement or family pictures there.

I second the Cherry Blossom festival at Branch Brook Park. FI and I did our e-pics there last April and they came out beautiful!

I've seen nice ones done at the mansion at FDU in Madison.  Further north, the NJ botanical gardens are nice.

some advice i got from my photog which was very helpful... i got married on a gorgeous day - 85 degrees, sunny, not a cloud in the sky, but with that, came pictures outside and squinting with all the sun. so the advice he gave was to close my eyes, he would count to 3 and then i would open them when he got to three. closing your eyes right before taking the picture helps you not to squint and keep your eyes open for the picture!

Our photographer took us to the Rutgers Gardens for our engagement photos (which will be used in our guest book).  It was awesome and we actually weren't in the garden-y area.  We took photos by different pathways lined with trees, with the two of us on a tree that had fallen (very woodsy) and this great spot where there is a stone wall right before a forest area - they came out unbelievable.

The gardens themselves are gorgeous too for traditional "pretty" pictures.

I have also heard Monmouth University is a great place for photos (I'm been to campus and it is very pretty).

the best place to take pics in nj
We are taking our pictures at Spring Lake.  There are some great walking bridges where the lake is.  Also, there is a boardwalk on the beach.  This allows for various backgrounds.

    vendors you loved
We searched high and low for a florist.  I visited 11 florists throughout NJ.  The 11th florist we met with was Carol from Something Nice, Point Pleasant.  She has been super helpful throughout the whole process.  She has worked in everything we want within our budget.  Carol really has taken the time to make sure that with all of the changes I have made, that everything is just right.  She is very nice and professional.

advice you couldn’t have planned your wedding without
Before choosing a vendor, check reviews on them not on their own company website.  It will save you from misery and stress.

Plan you budget and guest list before you book anything! Stick to your budget. Vendors will work with you if you ask them to.

    Have fun planning!
