Wine Ceremony...

Has anyone ever done a wine ceremony or seen one done? My fiance doesn't like the idea of a sand ceremony because the last three weddings we've been to have had one. And our wedding is outside so I don't want to risk a unity candle blowing out. I did some research and came across a wine ceremony where the bride and groom combine red and white wine and drink it. I tried YouTube-ing to see if I could see one done and haven't had luck. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on it! Thanks so much!!!

Re: Wine Ceremony...

  • I've never heard of it, but it sounds interesting. Personally, if there is a chance something will spill, splatter, or get knocked over, it will happen when I am nervous and wearing a white dress! LOL! So because of that, I wouldn't even attempt it for myself. But if you like the idea, then go for it.
  • My daughter and her husband did this at their wedding. Her husband's father is a wine maker, so they thought this would be very appropriate. They didn't mix the white and red wines as that is a no- no in the world of wine, but If i remember, they had a carafe of wine sitting on the table and she poured a little into his glass, he poured a little into her glass, they linked arms and each took a sip. The officiant made some meaningful comments about wine and families, but I can't remember exactly what she said.
  • I think I'd be too scared about the red wine spilling on my white dress or my FI white tux!You dont need to do any kind of unity candle or sand or anything but if you feel confident about doing it then go for it. Or maybe both have white instead!
