I think generally they say 4-8 weeks from the date of the event, but you might want to go 10 weeks out, so that gives people over a month to RSVP. But I haven't done the invite business for the wedding yet so hopefully other people can help! :)

I think it depends on your guest list. Most people send them 8 weeks out with an RSVP date 4 weeks out. I sent mine 10 weeks before the wedding because 95% of our guest list was OOT. The only thing I think of sending them now is that people might forget out them with the holidays coming up so it might be better to wait until after Christmas.

You're right: 6-8 weeks is normal. However, with the holidays, I'd wait until just the beginning of January to send them out. That way the post office has taken a deep breath after all of the Christmas cards, and your guests are less likely to forget that it came in the middle of all of the Christmas cards they received.

We sent out invitations at the very end of August, about 7 weeks ahead.

I would agree to wait until after Christmas - because people might lose them in all the other Christmas cards.  I sent mine out 10 weeks ahead because so many people were out of town (and DH's family is really bad at responding to such things -  I wanted ample time to track them all down)

Im a slacker and probably a bad person because of our timing, but we're having our invites made by a friend and hopefully they'll be finished before next weeks end since we're going OOT for the holidays. We're planning on sending them right after Christmas. Our RSVP is Jan 30 (I think) and our wedding is Feb 20th.

We've talked to a lot of the people already though, so they're alright with getting them a little later.

I agree with PP though, I'd wait until right after Christmas, that way they wont be lost in the chaos. :)
