Song for Communion??

My fiance and I are planning on sharing communion during the ceremony and I'm trying to find a song for my vocalist(s) to sing during that time. Any ideas?? I'm open to something unique and creative. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sounds like you may be having a Catholic mass, and if that's the case you won't be allowed to be very creative. The song must be liturgical, even if it's just instrumental... Even if you're not Catholic, I would imagine that nearly any church would require that the song accompanying the receipt of [i]the body and blood of Christ[/i] be liturgical. See what I mean? We had our string quartet play the Ave Maria during communion.

Irish Wedding Songguess that can be used if you're of Irish descent and the church allows secular music.I usually hear Ave Maria at Catholic weddings for the communion song.

If there is communion, then chances are you will be restricted to religious music. If you are using the church's musician(s), ask them for suggestions. As communion is a time to "reflect", you don't want something too distracting. I usually hear "Ave Maria", "Panis Angelicus", or "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" during the service/ceremony. I also like: "Hymn" by Vangelis (instrumental) "The Prayer" "You Raise me Up" "Joyful, Joyful" "Morning Has Broken"

We are also hoping to incorporate communion, and I really like the simple worship song, "Embrace this Place." There are many current worship songs that could be very appropriate. I like acoustic for this, too!

Thanks for the replies! Just to clarify, we are not having a Catholic mass and we do have quite a bit of lee-way in terms of the music we choose. I wouldn't choose something non-religious for communion, I'm just interested in song choices other than what is typically used. To expand (in case any of you return or someone new reads), I'm also interested in the "unique and creative" for the other song opps during the ceremony... And I listened to "Embrace This Place" -- beautiful, I'll definitely put it on my list of potentials! Thanks!

My sister and a bridesmaid sang "Glorious" by Matt Redman for our wedding. You can buy the accompainment CD. It's a contemporary worship song GL!

There are tons and tons of other incredible songs.
