Tux rentals- where to go?

I am completely clueless with this. My FI is in Northern NJ, some groomsmen are in centeral NJ and Philly and his brother is in college in NC. I really want a chain place they can all go to whenever is good for them to get measured, but are there any good chains? Are there any local to NJ chains that guys in north/central/south jersey can all access? Thanks!

The two chains that I've heard the most about are Men's Wearhouse and Dante Zeller.  I asked about both of them about a month ago on this board and, based on the feedback I received, your experience will depend entirely on which individual store you go to.

Some Men's Wearhouse locations get horrible reviews while others get phenomenal reviews -- same for Dante Zeller.

Yeah, same here!  I'm trying to keep a list of the ones that I see mentioned on here with good reviews and bad reviews so that I know which ones to consider and which to avoid like the plague!

We're using Hollywood Bridal for the tuxedo rental and it's been great. Not a chain but your guys can call in their measurements if need be.

How does that work for pick up/return though? Do they all have to go there?

We used Men's Wearhouse in Piscataway. They were awesome! The have their act together, were professional and the tuxedos came complete and nice.  The manager there is wonderful.  It was great because we had groomsmen all over the place and its a national chain.  We had them all sent there and picked them up for everyone about 4 days before the wedding.

Is that how it works (sorry I am totally clueless w/ this)- you have to have them all sent to one store, even if it is a chain, and pick them up for everyone? Im just nervous if we do that, the guys wont try them on until the night before the wedding, which if they dont fit, its too late to do anything about.

Can you order from a Men's Warehouse or similar chain where everyone picks up their tux in the local store near them and just brings it to the wedding?

We had everyone try them on at the Rehearsal Dinner (2 nites before) and that would give enough time for mistakes, but they all were fine.  You can have them pick them up where its closer to them, but if some guys are flying in, like some were, you wouldnt want to transport it, so we picked them up.  My husband also got his tux free, and you can get a real nice one free (Calvin Klein one, etc) Some of our guys went to their own stores- you can have them dropped off any place.  But in the computer its listed for your wedding.  So like when his brother in Oregon went he said it was for the "Smith Wedding."

OK - yeah none of our guys are flying, but they are about 2-3 hours away, so I know the week of the wedding Im not gonna have time to go deliver them. Our rehearsal will be Friday night and the wedding is Saturday at 2pm (ceremony) so I need them to check before that. This is the one aspect of the wedding I am most nervous about cause I dont trust guys w/ this type of stuff haha

we used the men's warehouse - a few different locations -- one in union NJ and one in Brooklyn, NY. Some of the guys got measured in AZ and CA. Of the 8 tuxedos rented -- 6 had problems that needed to be fixed - wrong sizes sent. One guy never did get the right shirt (I never noticed this). MW's was very nonchalant about the wrong sizes - they were like come back tomorrow. I know my dad was not too happy with them. Unfortunately they are one of the few nationwide chains.....

We are using Biltmore Tuxedos in Ridgewood, which is not a chain place.  But when I mentioned that some of our GM were out of state, they said they could go to a local tailor, get measured and fax the info to Biltmore.  We ended up not using that option because the guys came to NJ and got fitted.  It may be worth looking into because they do all of their alterations on site.

I was in a wedding in 2008 where the GM used Mens Wearhouse for the same reasons and they all got the wrong sizes.  The groom's tux was the only one that fit properly.

I am in the same boat.  We went into a Men's wearhouse and was not thrilled with the options there.  How are Dante's in Menlo Mall?  The other Option we are looking into is Hollywood Tuxes since we are doing the dresses there.  Anyone know about their pricing?

We just did ours at the Mens Wearhouse in Cherry Hill.  We did it for the same problem you're having, too many groomsmen in different places.  Right now the plan is to have them order by their closest store and they will pick it up the day before and try them on at the store near the wedding.  My BIL's sizing was messed up for his wedding and my cousin's husband's button fell off, but if those are the biggest issues we have, I'll survive.  One recommendation the store gave me was to use a stand-alone store instead of one in the mall be cause the stand-alone has tailors onsite, whereas the mall ones typically don't.

can you let me know about Biltmore too!
i dont want to use men's warehouse, and i really like biltmore plus its close to my house.  however my concern is all the boys having to drop it off / pick it up .... i dont want it to be a hassle for anyone bc theres only one location.  FI's wedding party has some out of towners.
did you offer to pick up or drop off for them? not sure i want to take on that responsibility as well.

I used cozytux.com  They are locations all over and had really nice designer tux's.  Price was great too.  I didn't care for biltmore, they were too "all over you"

we used Men's wearhouse and everything was fine - DH got his at the ledgwood location - everyone else used locations all over, including AZ and NC and no one had problems - they all picked them up at their own locations and then DH and I returned them in Rockaway. Here is the one tip I will share about Men's Wearhouse - make sure you use a full, real Men's wearhouse retail store and not a Men's wearhouse Tux rental store - it makes a huge difference!! We had everyone make sure they went to a full retail store and no one had any problems at all and everyone looked great!!
