Caffe Luna vs 518 West

Hey girls!

Did any of you use (or have you ever attended a rehearsal dinner at) Caffe Luna or 518 West in downtown Raleigh? I've eaten at each and know they both have great food and nice atmospheres....just wondering if you have any reviews?? We're having a hard time deciding!

Would love to hear about service, size/setup of the private rooms, food, etc.

I went to one at Caffe Luna once.  It was really nice!  Basically they just closed off one of the back rooms from the main restaurant.

They both have great food!  However, not sure if this matters to you or not, but Cafe Luna only offers certain beers and wine while 518 West has a full bar.  Just a thought!

We had our rehearsal dinner at Caffe Luna and thought it was great - the food is really tasty and they have an event coordinator there that is fantastic to work with.  And I thought the prices were really great!  I definitely recommend going with them.

I don't think that 518 has a private room, just the upstairs portion that you can reserve if that matters to you........

We were debating between these two and ended up choosing 518 west.  I love love love Caffe Luna but they couldnt be as flexible as we wanted them to for the menu. 

518 west lets you customize food offerings/drinks from anything on the menu. We didn't want the antipasti and we wanted to add chicken parmesan or calamari (and they can't do fried food for RDs).   Also, they DO have a private room, called the Pond room, downstairs, which seats 50 people. Obviously, we chose 518 West so that's what I'd tell you to do in the situation. But, I think they are both great and you really can't go wrong at either.
