Recommend a Reception Venue...Pretty Please!

Hi,

So my fiance & I are kind of on the late bus regarding anything about our weddings. We live 8-9 hours away from where we want to get married in NJ & we're both students, so we've had little time to research as much as we should. We're still planning for a July wedding & I'm feeling the crunch between the fact that I have a thesis due, another semester of classes, graduation & moving looming a little too near in the distance.

We're looking to have our ceremony at Allaire State Park Chapel, but we need to find a close reception venue. We'd love to stay in the $50-70pp range for about 80. Do you have any recommendations?! Thank you sooo much!

Re: Recommend a Reception Venue...Pretty Please!

  • Are you thinking THIS July? ..if so you might get some deals since it's 6 months away.  Otherwise, I think it will be hard to find a venue with your target price since July is peak season.  I suggest looking into Restaurants.

I don't have any recs for that area though, good luck!
  • Thank you! I'm looking into restaurants, too, but any recs would be helpful as I'm not in the area currently nor am I a native of Central Jersey...
  • Maybe some place like a Maggiano's?
  • edited January 2012
Sure! But Maggiano's is a little too far for me. My fam will be coming from Philly, so I want to find someplace pretty close to the Chapel.

    Thanks!!
  • Oh I wasn't sure how far it was. Good luck! Maybe there is something else like that.
  • What about the Mill at Spring Lake? I'm not sure of the price though.

  • Hmmm, this area is really popular in the summer, and many require minimums of at least 100-125.  You may have some challenges finding something available at this time, but I'm sure something open may be prepared to make you a good deal.  Some places to check out that may meet your needs: Rella's Tavern (www.rellastavern.com), Brielle River House (www.brielleriverhouse.com), Union Landing (www.unionlanding.com), American Hotel (americanhotelnj.com), Barclay (www.thebarclay.com).  Good luck in your search!

  • I forgot about the Black Trumpet in Spring Lake (www.theblacktrumpet.com).  Also, if you're open to taking a short trip north of Allaire, Red Bank has Buena Sera (www.buona-sera.com) or Rumson has Salt Creek Grille (www.saltcreekgrille.com/rumson/index.asp?mid=67&mid2=158)

  • Try Vanity Fare in Lakewood. We're getting married on a Saturday evening and they were flexible with the required minimum. They were very happy to work with us and the service has been great.

Thanks! We visited Vanity Fare & it's not the right venue for us. Thank you so much for the suggestion, though :)

I looked at them a few months & they were out of our price range. Thank you for the recommendation!

Thank you! I have checked the American Hotel (they start around $80pp), but not the others. I will check into those places. I really appreciate you taking the time to suggest these venues.

  • The price point is what is giving me pause. It's also late in the game so availability may be an issue.  I don't know all the numbers but would suggest you look at

    Doolans in Spring Lake

    The Barclay in Belmar

    The Spring Lake Manor http://www.weddingreceptionnj.com/

    Our House in Famingdale  http://ourhouserestaurant.net/

The Hamilton Banquet Hall in Neptune

The reception center at San Clemete http://www.thereceptioncenter.com/

I found most of these by googling banquet halls near Farmingdale.

    Good luck.
  • The reception Center is nice for the price and I would even suggest Bridgewater Manor, but I think those are all futher south than you're looking for.
