Graycliff v. Landmark v. the royal manor v. tides?

Hi all,

First post here- the boards have been so helpful, btw!  Anyway, I am planning a wedding in march, april or may (2012- yes I know, rushed!).  If the prices for the above places are pretty much similar, and all have saturday dates open, which one, Graycliff, Landmark,  the royal manor or tides, would you choose?  I've seen great things written about each place, but was wondering if anyone had toured or attended a wedding at all 4 or some of the above an could offer any insight? Due to the rushed nature and holidays, we have limited time to tour. Also, we are having both the ceremony and reception at the venue, if that is a factor in your decision.

Thanks so much!

We looked at Graycliff and Landmark and have attended a wedding at the Tides.  We decided on The Graycliff because I feel that they give you a lot for your money.  The Landmark has a good price but the guy we met with was a bit rude.  The Tides is beautiful but the downstairs room was claustrophobic.

I was just at a wedding at the graycliff and was unimpressed with the food and decor. I have not been to any of the other three places.

damn, so one for the graycliff and one anti? lol
the tides will be the downstairs room bc we're only having about 100 ppl. I hope it isn't too claustrophobic!

The best thing to do would be to go visit each one and see which you like best.

We went and looked at  the Graycliff and will more than likely book there - we thought it was very pretty, the food was delicious (they were willing to do a private tasting for us, to accomodate my food allergy) and you absolutely can not beat the prices there. Nowhere else we've looked has come close.

we liked the royal manor the best out of the 4 you mentioned when we visited them bc of the modern look.  however, all of them can have 2 weddings at a time next to each other or on a floor above/below.
we decided on fiesta, it's in the same area.  fiesta can have 2 weddings also but the newer room is on it's own side so you and your guests won't run into other parties.
    good luck

I agree, you need to go to all of those places and see for yourself. I went to the Graycliff  - only one of your choices and disliked it a lot. The carpets were old, there were weird mirrors on the walls, not enough seating for the cocktail hour, multiple weddings and both bridal "suites" were right next to each other. Sorry I can't comment on the others but everyone has different tastes so its best to go see them in person.

I looked at the Royal Manor. I didnt like it bc there was a wedding and a Sweet 16 going on at the same time. The reason this was a problem is that the music was so loud from the Sweet 16 that you could hear it inside the wedding room. If this was my wedding I wouldve been so upset bc it was blasting through the walls.
We ended up booking the Graycliff, We loved the food and Cathy is so good to work with. They offer a lot for your money. Good luck w your decision! :)

The Landmark was ok... I looked at the Graycliff also but to be honest my company holiday party celebrates there every year- so I wasn't that interested, plus I didn't think it was that pretty, for what I wanted.

I have heard a lot of people who went to weddings at the Tides and they thought it was lovely, but I heard they are really expensive.

I don't know abut the other one.
I got married at The Empire Club, they were pretty cheap and you got a lot for your money- plus the inside is gorgeous.

Ditto this.  From what I've seen, yes, there are places in the same prices range as the Graycliff, but what you get for the price is amazing.  Some other places I priced were way higher, and only offering like half of what Graycliff was offering, mainly during the cocktail hour.
When we were looking for our venue, I left a voicemail and an email for the Landmark (I had gone to a wedding there and it seemed nice) but nietheer were returned.  That turned me off right away and I never bothered trying them again.

I looked at all those places for my wedding and It came down to the Royal Manor and The Elan (a new venue) mostly becuase of appearence and the way I was felt when I walked into each place.  I wantes a place that was newer and modern.  I finally decided on The Elan because they went above and beyond to make my fiance and I happy.  They tasting they put on for us was beyond incredible.  Their online reviews are also great.  The only thing that made a little nervous is that they are new and I want to be sure they are still around but it seems lke the are having great success.

If I can answer anything specific about any place, feel free to PM me.

Out of those options I'd pick The Tides or The Graycliff. Tides wins out to me just because they have better curb appeal but I did enjoy the Graycliff interior and food. Happy hunting!!!!

I had my reception in the downstairs room at The Tides for about the same amount of people you are thinking of having.  We actually had a photobooth in the room, as well, and we had plenty of space.  They re-did the cocktail room, which now has the same flooring as the upstairs, and it is stunning--literally every single guest complimented us on the food and decor/location.

We checked out The Graycliff, but they weren't responsive (we were looking in April 2010, so it was quite a while ago) and we just loved the grounds and overall ambience at The Tides.  We were quoted an awesome deal and had an extra hour for the reception, full raw bar, Viennese hour, and martini luge.  I'd go to an open house, if possible.
  • Thank you guys so much for all of that feedback! i ended up booking at the tides!!
