Have you tried David's Bridal yet, and also Group USA? They have lots of gowns in that price range.

Another idea would be to ask if you can purchase the sample dress for a discounted price. You might need alterations and cleaning, but that might still fall into your price range.

What designers are you looking into? I think that Alfred Angelo gowns usually fall in that price range, and I know that some Maggie Sottero gowns do as well (lace gowns were more expensive).

Another suggestion ... if you find something slightly above that range, contact a wholesaler (rkbridal.com, netbride.com, pearlsplace.com) and see what their quote is. They're legit sites ... you just save money because you're not paying the salon's overhead charge.

Or look for it on eBay, Craigslist or preownedweddingdresses.com. Also try the Trash to Treasure board on the Nest, for girls selling their gowns. (If you're a size 14 and like Maggie Sottero, I have mine that I am considering selling.)

If you want something simple, consider ordering a bridesmaid's dress in white. You probably won't pay more than $300, tops. You can also find lovely wedding gowns on Nordstrom.com, JCrew.com and AnnTaylor.com.

I bought my dress from Park Avenue Bridal in Verona, and they had gowns under $1K.

Hollywood Bridal in Kennilworth carries older collections.  Mine I think is 2 or 3 years old?

wow thanks so much for all the info i  really  appreicate it.  i have been  liking the styles of mori lee,  essence  of  austrailia, etc,  i dont need a name brand,  but  i liked  styles from them the most  according to my look book. ill write down a   whoe list of these name in my  binder  i still have to  make.  even if it  is name brand  like the ones i saw,    if its   from an older collection it  has to be less too right?
