Another techie question (camcorders this time)...

Any recommendations for a shoot-and-share camcorder?

I suppose they are useful for just posting stuff on youtube, etc, but honestly, why carry around another gadget?  They are not much better than what a point and shoot camera can do.........

If you do get one, get one with image stabilization and some sort of optical zoom

I was hoping to get a small one to take on our honeymoon.  Not so much for uploading to the computer, but just because they seem smaller and easier to carry than my current camcorder.  I think some (if not most/all) of them can connect to the television, right?

Does a shoot-and-share seem appropriate for what I'm hoping to use it for or should I just stick with my current camcorder?

What kind of camcorder do you have?

As I said if you get a good point and shoot camera just use that.  Don't take long sequences, etc, they get tedious to watch if they are not edited...

I just took short flicks from hawaii and put them into short movies of different attractions....alll with my point and shoot camera.  I have about 30 of these....

I don't have it with me at the moment, but this is what it looks like for the most part:

A bit bigger and bulkier than what I was hoping to use on the honeymoon.  Perhaps I'll just take your advice and use a digitital camera for recording.

Unless you want to document the whole vacation go for the digicam.  My segments are 2 minutes long each.....any longer and you lose the audience.

A friend got us a Flip Video as an engagement present and we love it. We took it to Italy with us on our honeymoon & sent a few quick 1-minute clips to our families & friends.  We had fun documenting our trip & plan to edit the clips into a short film ourselves.

It's very simple to use and you just plug the device directly into your computer--no need for another plug or cord.  It's small-the size of a regular P&S camera.

I would recommend it over a traditional camcorder because of it's size and ease of use.

My only issue with the flip is no image stabilization and no optical zoom.

The kodak playsport at least is waterproof and has IS
