DIY metal card holder? Anyone made one?

For place cards/escort cards I am making candles, wrapped in vellum with names/table numbers on them. But I am debating adding a metal card holder to the candle, like in the pic below, so those that dont want to carry a candle during cocktail hour dont have to. Any ideas on how to make these metal card holders? Anyone ever done that before? Thanks so much!

If you find thick-enough wire you could use jewelry pliers to make them... I would try Michael's craft store (and they have awesome online coupons to print out). They have a great jewelry section.

How many do you have to make?

If you have never worked with wire before, this may be difficult to do.  As PP said, you can get wire at Michael's but they don't really carry anything that thick.  And the thicker the wire the harder it is to manipulate.  Before you go buying everything you need to make ALL of them, I would find your local bead store and just buy a couple feet of wire and try it out.  You will certainly need jewelry pliers.

I would recommend going to Red Bank Bead Company in Strewsbury. Bring a picture of what you want to do and they can show you how to do it.  If you find this is still something you want to do, then order your wire online either at firemountaingems.com or artbeads.com.  They will both be less expensive then buying in store.

Oh and one more thing, you want to use Base Metal for something like this, no sterling silver.

I would think it would be very hard to do them nicely, and not that expensive to buy them.

Like if you look here, here's something similar for $.65 each.  You couldn't DIY that cheaply.
