*Giaspo* -- Anguilla

Hi! I searched for Cap Juluca on TK and your post on the Honeymoon Board came up. Did you decide on Cap Juluca, or any other place in Anguilla? We're thinking of going there, too.

Thanks!

Butting in to say that the other big resort on the island, the Viceroy, is in bankruptcy, so it might be a sketchy option if that's the "other" place you're considering.

I appreciate it! Open to all comments about Anguilla from anyone. And yes, we were also looking into that place, so thanks for the heads up!

Kind of agree about Viceroy, although a coworker went a few weeks ago and had tons of raves (except that she didn't like the beach there).  So you never know.

We went to Anguilla last July and stayed at Cuisinart.  It was a tough choice between that and Cap Juluca, particularly because they were exactly the same price (Viceroy wasn't really in the running because it was still very construction-delayed at the time).  We ended up at Cuisinart because it was more family-friendly (we went with my sister who has kids), and because the rooms seemed nicer.  No regrets at all (in fact, we went to Cap Juluca one night for dinner and the bad service experience left a bad taste in my mouth).  You can't go wrong with either though.

Anguilla is a great island -- both more luxurious and laid-back than a lot of other islands we've been to, and much better food.

Uppereast, re: the Viceroy ido you know if the whole resort is open and  operatingl?  I had read that it was not.  It looks gorgeous though,

I was going to say that you guys should think of Anguilla for your trip!  It is a little difficult to get to compared to other islands, but is worth the trek if you have the time.

I will ask my friend and get back to you!

Hi!  Just saw thepost...  We booked it last Friday and I'm excited.  We chose Cap Juluca over Viceroy mainly because at Viceroy, the beach is a 15 minute distance away.  (Now I feel even better about our decision reading the PP).  Plus, Cap Juluca is offering great deals for the off-season (we're going in September).

My FI is a foodie which is why we chose Anguilla.... supposedly the restaurants are amazing.  It is true, getting there is a challenge, but we figured it out...  Our choices were to fly from Newark through Miami to St. Martin, or fly from JFK direct to St. Martin (after much debate we chose JFK - even though it's painful it was so much cheaper).  Then, Cap Juluca has a private boat that takes you across the bay.

We used All About Honeymoons to book it and also decided to buy the travel insurance as it will be hurricane season.

If you'd like more info please PM me - I'm happy to share!!  And I'd love any other info about Anguilla too!  Thanks!

I should add that a friend of H's went there on his HM recently, stayed at Cap Juluca and loved it.  So it sounds like you made a great choice, Giaspo!

That was true when we were there in July (Viceroy was bussing its guests to a beach on the other side of Meads Bay), but I'm 99.99% sure it isn't true anymore. I'm 99.99% sure at least one of their beaches was open when my coworker went in February.

Giaspo, I'm going to send you a PM with a list of restaurants we went to.

We are about to book the Viceroy for our HM but after reading these posts, now im nervous. The beach is 20 min away from the viceroy? Our travel agent said half the rooms are by the beach and the other half is not far at all...We are between cuisinart and viceroy. We would be going on oct 17. will any of you ladies be there then?

    Hi!
Some people said that the 20 minute ride from the Viceroy was only during construction, and now it is close to the beach.  But I am not sure... have you checked tripadvisor.com?  There are some great reviews on there that are very recent.

We are going in September and purchased insurance just in case of hurricanes.  The weather in Sept-Oct is supposed to be gorgeous!

Feel free to PM me if you have other Qs.  I don't think you can go wrong with the Viceroy; it was a really hard decision for us.  Ultimately, we chose Cap Juluca because it is supposed to be more "quaint" and quiet.  But both look amazing!

    Good luck!

Thanks Giaspo! You just made me feel better! I did read the reviews on trip advisor and they were great. Your comment also made me more confident in our decision as my FI is not so much into quaint as he is into modern and bold design. He is a graphic designer so that is very important to him. Thanks for your response, I will def pm with some questions :)
