channel club brides!

i went to the bridal show last night and fell in love! i loved the outdoor ceremony location, right on the marina dock! and the boats in the water. and i loved the reception room..everything was beautiful. and the food was delicious!! the mashed potato martini..ooh my goodness! i'm calling my guy in a few to discuss it but when i told him i was going, he checked it out online and saw the boats and was sold..he drives boats in the coast guard, owned a boat before he left that he kept at a belmar marina...all i have to say is "boats" and i think he'll agree.

i was just so excited i had to share! i'll be calling them tomorrow to set up a meeting but i think i've found my venue! :)

what should i be expecting when i go back down? should i inquire about the date i want now just to see if it's available or is that not something they'd be able to tell me over the phone?

I'm not a Channel Club bride, but I did meet with them. I see your date is about 2 years away, and they do have the 2012 book now so you can let them know. You'll get a tour of the entire venue, right down the the bathrooms and then talk about the different package options and payment schedule. If this is your first venue I suggest you do look at others, just to make sure you're comfortable with what you're paying for what you are getting... and on that note I'll shamelessly recommend my venue, Crystal Point Yacht Club, which is also right on the water with boats =) good luck!

We got married at CC this past August and LOVED everything about it! We had our ceremony there too... it was beautiful! Our day was perfect, and Fred & Liz were exceptional! Let me know if you have any specific questions!

I'd go with the Crystal Point over the Channel Club. Unless they redid the room, I felt like it needed an uplift and a few of the ceiling tiles (basement style) were water stained (yuck!).

that being said, I remember they had the deepest discounts off season, up until around easter weekend....crazy discounts (but prob too cold to use the outside and no flowers yet).

That picture looks incredibly old.... even so I don't see any water marks!
This is a picture from our wedding there 8.27.10
Ceiling looks perfectly fine to me.
And honestly, I never noticed or looked at the ceiling once until it was brought up in this post... in my own or any venue I have ever been too.....

When I was there a few were water stained, it's good they replaced them. The room just reminded me of a finished basement with those ceiling tiles.

User- honestly, didn't even look at the ceiling. As far as your recommendation for Crystal Point (and sorry Diamondx) I thought that was more run down, and my mom goes to events there twice a year with work and the food has been getting worse and worse each event. The last one, she was served a still frozen appetizer. Absolutely unacceptable. They have also been trying to sell the place for some time now and if they do it will be torn down completely.

Channel Club just redid the cocktail hour room (it looks soo much nicer now), and from what I have seen since beginning looking there and now- they have made many improvements. The pictures on the website are beyond outdated.

kristine- you are in good hands at Channel Club. I got married there in May and the staff was great. Fred or Liz will answer any questions you have- and they will definitely check if your date is available on the phone. If you are set on them, you can ask other dates avail if yours isn't. They offer discounts for off peak times as well. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions on CC.

heather & allie, thanks for the input!

can i ask how many each of you had at your reception? if i remember correctly, they stated the room could hold up to 250. i'm concerned because it seemed like it wouldn't be able to hold that many and i anticipate mine to be about 175-200. did it seem crowded when all of your guests were there?

also, for the ceremony, i don't recall seeing pricing on the information i have..would you mind telling me approx how much it is? at the bridal show, they gave a discount to have your ceremony free if you book before the end of the month so if it's a great value i want to hop on it, see one more venue i'm interested in and make a decision!

    thanks so much!! :)
