colors and more...

I'm having a difficult time with this.  I have most of my big ticket items done for my Fall (October) wedding; however, I'm stuck with my colors.

Originally, I've been thinking of doing black/red/white.  I've even found a dress that I like for our BM's (http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/6561/?color=black&colorid=123 )

But then I'm thinking that I want to do the "fall colors"....What do you think about using them? What colors would be best if I wanted to do "fall colors".... Any other ideas that you just want to throw at me?? :)

Ohhhh and one more thing.... long/shorter dresses for BM's?  If you want to share your opinions on that, I'd love to hear them!

I know, I know that this is my choice... but I really need some help.

We're doing jewel tone colors for our October wedding- plum, wine, and navy. It's coming along really well and still looks "fall" without being overly burnt orange/brown autumn.

I'm planning to do wine colored dresses and they will be long - I'm doing an outdoor ceremony, so I think my girls will appreciate the extra coverage. :)

We went with the more traditional fall colors for our November wedding - burgundy and a burnt orage. With the accent colors of ivory and gold here and there. I actually didn't put much thought to it - it just kind of happened.

I think what Sherri suggested would be beautiful!

If I were having an Autumn wedding I would probably go with pewter, fushia and dark deal or brown and pink. I loove brown & pink, it works for most seasons too. I love the idea of non-traditional fall colors, so I'd probably settle for the pewter with fushia or dark teal as the accent color. As for dress length, I generally follow the tea/cocktail length for day weddings and full length for evening rule. I've been in wedding that broke that rule and the world didn't stop spinning on it's axis. But for October, it can be chilly, so if I were *in* a wedding then, I'd probably appreciate a full length gown to keep me warmer, especially if it were an evening wedding.

I also kind of like the idea of your MOH wearing a different dress, including length, than the BMs, I think it photographs well.

Ideas for spring colors anyone? I'm lean toward lavander, raspberry and cream or dark pink and white with light green accent. Other suggestions? I'm not a big fan of greens/yellows, I like pinks/purples/blues..?

My thought: I'd put the BMs in black, have the groomsmen in plain black vests and ties, or another neutral color like silver or champagne (unless your FI wants them in something else), and use the fall colors for other decor details ... stationery, tablecloths and napkins, flowers, etc.

Or the BMs could be in chocolate brown, and use the fall colors in other areas. Put the GMs in brown, silver, latte or champagne vests and ties. Something like this would be nice: http://tinyurl.com/27ulww5

I consider fall colors to be red, wine, chocolate, a deep orange, yellow.

If you really want black white and red, then that's what you should do. You don't HAVE to model your colors according to the season unless that's what you want to do. I think fall colors can be very beautiful, but I don't think you're tied to using them just because it's October.

While I like the dress you posted, it doesn't look very flattering to me - which is odd because it's plain black. I would do some shopping (with your BMs if at all possible) and get a feel for what they're comfortable in. I really wanted shorter dressing and my mom pretty much squashed that. At the end of the day I ended up with 4 long (one with a bolero) and 2 short. I couldn't have cared less as long as the girls were happy with what they had on at that point. Good luck!

i like the ideas of the jewel color tones that Sherri suggested. They seem to be an updated version of fall colors. But if you wanted to go with the traditional autumn colors, I think brown, burnt orange, gold, wine/burgundy.

As far as BM dresses, my MOH is wearing a full length gown while the other BM are weaing either cocktail or tea length. They are all the same color and fabric just different styles. I like the fact that they are not all in the same dress and they get to be comfortable in what they want.

I would of loved to have a fall wedding!  However, being a teacher I felt like having a summer wedding was more practical.  With that said I love either a wine, eggplant, or burnt orange for BM's dresses.  Also, i've always liked long dresses for an evening wedding.
