Venue Contract Too Vague?

I received a copy of my venue's contract for my Dad to review before putting down a deposit.  It has all of the standard legal type jargon about cancelling, vendors needing insurance, yada yada... but nothing about what is actually included in the service.  Nothing about the cake being include, uplighting, linens, etc.

Did your contracts include this?  If not did you find a way to incorporate?  I started drafting my own "amendment to the contract" but I don't want them to laugh in my face!

If it has a package name (ie gold wedding package) and the gold wedding package is listed as including those things thats probably ok. If they add on things like the cake which isn't normally included then I'd make sure it was listed. Mostly in case the coordinator changes hands/

We made them put in everything down to the letter but that's just how we are. It's really a judgement call on your part but I was paranoid!

Ours said the name of the package with the version number, etc. If yours doesn't say something like that, I'd have them list everything that is included.

Our contract lists everything that is included, and how much $ additional options are, plus the price per head, and minimum number of guests required.

This. It even had spots for us to fill in the entree choices at a later time.

Ours is pretty detailed. It has the legal info. as well. It has the min. head count, price per head, M.D. fees, bridal attendants fees and all upcharged items that are to be included as well as the number of ice carvings, specialty items etc. Things that come standard(ie; linens/lenox place settings/ chiavari chairs etc.) are not written in.  I think it's absolutely fine to write up the specifics of what are to be included if it will give you piece of mind :o) It's a huge day for you both and if you feel like this might be in the back of your mind, then go ahead and add in what information will set you at ease.
    Best of luck!!

What about changing any of the standard language?  There is a clause about double booking - that they reserve the right to change the room or the venue if another room is unavailable, or to cancel the event.

We drafted alternative language just to cover ourselves in the very rare chance that this happens, but when I just spoke to our coordinater he did not seem like he was willing to change this.  He said its standard in most contracts and will NEVER EVER happen.

Did you all have to deal with this?
