Honeymoon HELP - Travel Agent Recommendations Needed

Hi Everyone,

I need to book my honeymoon soon as my wedding is about 6 months away.  I usually book all my vacations myself online & usually find amazing deals but with all the honeymoon planning it would be nice to have someone do that for me since I usually stalk the travel sites LOL which is time consuimg...anyway I was wondering if you all had any travel agent recommendations -- someone who is reliable & gives you great deals!  I know it doesn't matter where I'm located bcuz you can do phone consultations but I'm in Northern NJ (Hudson County).  Thankkkssss! 

PS. I have a phone consultation this wknd with Mindy from My Vacation Lady. I met her at a bridal show & have read good things about her here, but I welcome other recommendations.

We used Carmen from All About Honeymoons. She was fantastic- she did so much research for us during the planning process. Also, we got married during hurricane season and she tracked the storms for us the week of our wedding. She called us the morning after with an update and a bunch of different options, and we rescheduled not once but twice. Everything was done over the phone or email. Does mindy charge for the honeymoon consultation?

Hi again- I just read your last post. The agent should not charge a consultation fee. In fact, as far as I know, the entire thing should be at no cost to you. This was consistent with all of the agents we spoke to.

HI, I just finished my consultation with mindy a little  while ago.  No she does not charge a consultation fee.  If you decide to use her, she charges a retainer fee (deposit) of $100 per person,(& you sign a little contract), which will then be deducted from your honeymoon costs..works like any other deposit.  She only works with a few clients at a time so I guess if you give a deposit, you'll be committed to working with her & that way she has more time to concentrate on booking your honeymoon.  She seemed very nice & knowledgeable but I haven't made any final decisions yet as she is only the 1st travel agent I consult with.

We booked our honeymoon and all of our other vacations through Mindy.  She was fantastic.  She doesn't charge a consultation fee, it gets applied to your final payment. 

She was really great and everything turned out fantastic.  She was available to answer any questions I had leading up to the trip.  It wasn't like an online service with which once you book, you have no further contact with them.  She also found discounts after we booked and got our price reduced.

I recommended her to all of my friends and they were all very happy with her services as well.
