lake valhalla club in montville, nj.. 200+ guests.. doable?

hi there! my parents came with my fi and me to check out LVC yesterday and we all loved it. although they insist 200-220 people will not be an issue, we can't help but be concerned.

it seems most weddings there (as per the reviews i've read) have been in the 150-170 guest range.

has anyone been to a large wedding there? had a large wedding there? heard anything, from anyone about a large wedding there?

i searched high and low to find the perfect venue and LVC is the only one that comes close to what we're looking for.. (lake mohawk is gorgeous too, but way too far for us). if LVC is not going to cut it (size wise), does anyone have any suggestions for a rustic, vintage, romantic type venue that can accommodate 200+ guests without completely breaking the bank?

any advice, suggestions, information would be greatly appreciated! thank you!

I'm told they can do it (I"m having my wedding there Oct 2013 but we only have 150).  I know they use some of the cocktail hour space along the windows to fit everyone.  They open that wall up to make it open.  I was be a little hesitant though.  Ask Perry if you can come see a wedding of 200...I'm sure that would be fine.  I think it would help if you could just peak in.

ya, when we visited yesterday.. it wasn't really set up for anything (as there was no wedding going booked last night). so it was hard to visualize what it would look like. i'm not even concerned so much with the tables as i am with the dance floor!

when you went for your tasting, did you eat off of the dinner menu or ask to try different things from the seated affair menu? they said we could do either or.. which i think is fantastic.

my other concern is the club members.. we are looking to have our wedding june 2014. so while it won't be full swing of summer, i'm sure there will be people out and about. i guess it won't matter too much.. but i do feel a little icky about them using the same bathrooms off the viking room (cocktail room).

i know the lake closes at 8pm, but any idea of when the members are completely out for the night? i forgot to ask yesterday!

we just got married there on sunday. i was nervous about the size too. we had 180, i think 200 could def fit! you just have to use the cocktail area. my florist actually said that someone rented a tent and had 300 people there at one point (i mean that's not ideal, obviously). but 200 seems doable :-)

Hi Mandy,

I am looking at LVC as well and am expecting about 170 guests, so similar to your wedding size. Did you find the dance floor big enough? Also, were the guests that were sat in the cocktail room okay? Thanks!
