West Orange Manor brides & chair covers...

Hi girls.  Anyone have/or is planning to have chair covers for their receptions at the manor?  If so, can you let me know who you used and how they looked?  They didn't have recommendations for me.

Dont you think chair-covers are out-dated? And who sees the chairs when people are seated? I hate that white sheet look personally. Waste of $.

Thanks for your kind post!  If I personally thought they were outdated, do you think I'd be using them?  And no, they are not going to be white sheets just draped over chairs.  But thanks!

On a side note, if I can bring in Chiavari chairs, I would...The chairs are totally fine at the manor, I just want a little bit of a different look.

I think it's fine to use them. But their chairs are good without them too- so you can't go wrong :o) my venue has the chiavari chairs which I love! So no covers for me. Two things: be sure they aren't too bulky to avoid people snagging their clothes on them/ drunk tripping lol and get them to throw them in! Just tell them that every other venue you looked at included them- which in reality, every venue I checked out included them with some nudging. Best Wishes!!!!

Hi there! Chair Covers are definitely a matter of personal choice. I think if you are looking for them in the Imperial room I would go for a darker color (maybe a gold would look great!) Good luck!

Its weird that they don't have a suggestion of a company for you.. I'd think that you aren't the first person who has used chair covers there..

I don't have a recommendation, but I do have to share a story.  My fiance was dead set on having chair covers at The Manor because he absolutely despised the chairs when we first went.  He was so adamant about it that he actually started doing research to find places to rent them from and there was no talking him out of it.  However, we wound up going to a wedding there and as we were leaving the reception that night he turned to me and said, "You were right.  I didn't even notice the chairs once everyone was in the room."

Point being... chairs stick out to you when you're in an empty room, but as soon as you fill the room with centerpieces, dinnerware, and bodies, the chairs just fade into the background.

Personally, I hate the look of chair covers and I especially hate the feel of them because, to me, they either feel cheap or they're too silky/slippery and I find myself constantly having to scootch my butt around on them.  Also, every room at The Manor has a different ambiance about it and I think chair covers would take away from that.  Just my opinion, though.

Thanks Peaches!  You always make good points lol!  I know you're right...when I see the room, it's empty so it looks different than it will when it's the actual reception.  I'll have to stop in again next week and take another look; I may end up deciding against them!  Btw-I love how I only asked for some sugggestions for the actual covers not opinions from people who have nothing nice to say ;-) I do agree with you about the ambiance of each room, very good point! Thanks again!!!

I hated the chairs at the Manor (our recpetion was in the Imperial Room too). I was so set on either getting chair covers or Chiavari chairs but our money wound up going towards other things we really wanted. At the end of the day, the room looked fine with the chairs they had and I didn't even notice.

I said it in a previous post, but I'll say it again, the whole room and cocktail hour room has such a different feel at night when its decorated for a wedding. I can't tell you how many times we were there for meetings, visits, ect before the wedding. Everything just seems so different the day of.

    here's some pics:

Hi Tara!  Pics look awesome, thank you!  We're in Regency, same chairs as Imperial though.  Everything will look different decorated on the actual day, I agree.  I appreciate the fact though that you were thinking Chiavari or chair covers as well lol!  Thanks :)

Totally understand what you mean, lol.  Just think your response was a little harsh!  And i may still get them.  Either way, was just asking for some pics of how they would look on those chairs in the room we're in :)

  • I know I am replying to an old post; but just had to let you all know that I just came back from booking my daughter's wedding and the Imperial Room has been redecorated. New ivory chairs and the drape is no longer burgundy either, it is a beautiful ivory color. New carpet too!! I am so excited! A lot of great things happening at The Manor
