FI and I went to Fusion On 22 in Green Brook today. We pass by it ALL the time, but the sign out front says it's French and Asian fusion cuisine which gave us the impression that it was going to be expensive, stuffy, or just too fancy for our taste.
Today we decided, "What the hell?!" and went for it and OH MY GOD it was one of the best meals out we've had in a long time. I've never tasted anything like what we ate tonight because it really is a fusion of Indian, Vietnamese, Thai, and French foods all in one, but not in a weird way.
The best way I can describe it is that it's Indian and Thai food with Vietnamese and French spices (or at least that was the food that we had today). The owner (who also acted as our server) is one of the nicest people I've ever met and when we sat down and told him that we were clueless when it came to the menu, he really took his time to give us suggestions (and they were great suggestions, thankfully)!
I just wanted to throw out the restaurant recommendation in case anyone, like me, has passed by a million times but was turned off by the name and description OR if you're just looking for something really different and good to try for a nice or even casual dinner out.
