New to the Knot- Can I ask about the English Manor here?

Hi, Just joined today, just got engaged on Saturday! My sister got married a few years ago. One of the places we liked was the English Manor in Ocean. They couldn't accomodate her date but we loved it otherwise. I'm looking at April/May 2011 which they have. I'm thinking we're going to have around 150 people.Has anyone had or been to a wedding here at this time? I'm worried about if we can't use the outdoor areas at all due to weather. They say they can accomodate indoor ceremonies, cocktail and receptions of this size, but I'm worried about it being too small and everyone feeling like they're on top of eachother. Any advice you can provide would be appreciated. Also, if this isn't where I should be posting this, please let me know. I really am having trouble understanding theknot!

Welcome. You have come to the right place. I don't know anything about that venue but other girls/guys will.

My SIL and brother got married there.  it was really nice.  I want to say they only had about 100 people.  They got married on may 13th and it was nice enough to be outside.  I think during that time of year its still iffy but they got super lucky.   Everyone fit in the cocktail hour fine but they had less people than you.  It wasnt overly spacious in that room from what i remember.  Maybe soemone will chime in with a larger party.

It was one of the places that I visited and I don't think you'd have a problem being forced to do everything inside for 150 people, in fact I think their minimum is 135 on some nights.

The ballroom is large, so that wont be an issue. Cocktail hour has the food in one area, and tables in the other. People can also sit in their lobby/living room type of area if it gets tight.  I'm pretty sure that there is an overhang for part of the deck outside where people can be, as long as its not torrential downpours.

Congratulations!! I to am new to the knot. We are getting married at the English Manor on 5/22/11. We are shooting for 100-125 people. The ballroom is a big room. I'm praying the weather is good for the outdoor ceremony & cocktail hour. Good Luck:)

I am looking into English Manor, also!  My fiance and I loved it as soon as we walked in.  We have seen at least 18 other places, and this one was definately the most spacious at the right price.  If it is space you are worried about, The Skylands in Randolph, NJ is enormous and very willing to work with you on pricing and dates.  The Berkely Plaza is also a good size venue, no outdoor ceremony space, though.  They will also work with you on price and will guarantee you exclusivity of the venue on your wedding day.  (We have looked everywhere)
Whatever you do, stay away from Stanley at the Brooklake Country Club.  He was horrible, rude, and assumed we were "too poor" to speak to.

I was actally wondering if anyone was able to negotiate on prices or extras at the English Manor.  We haven't tried yet, and I figured I would ask you guys first to see if anyone was successful.
