Ballyowen Golf Club

Has anyone had experience with wedding receptions at Ballyowen?  We really like the space as it is unique and very pretty, but are concerned that the room may be too small.  We will be having around the max of 170 guests.  The coordinator there said the room could hold 170 with a band, but I wanted to see if anyone here felt the same.  We are having the wedding in early October 2011 so we should be able to have guests make use of the outside area as well. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Two of my friends had their reception there.  I really liked it, they had a large group of guests, but I can't really recall how many.

I thought the food was really good, I loved the setting.

My FI & I looked at it too and decided against it cause of the size as well- it looks small but it wasnt set up when we looked at it. I havent been to a wedding there, but live right by it so I know people who have, food is suppossed to be good, just a few things to check on- I dont think they have A/C, which in October would prob be fine, and we hated that you had to go outside to use the bathrooms. But it is very pretty

I've never been to a wedding there, but I golf and live near there and am familiar with the space.  It seems to me that that would become a very crowded dance floor; too crowded IMO.

It's beautiful but the only other issue is the paver floor, which is hard to walk on in heels. However, it's a great rustic location and the views are gorgeous.  I've never been to a wedding there but peeked in while at a golf outing. I think it may be tight with 170.
