Pre-Cana: anyone going this weekend and what to expect?

Hi ladies!

Is anyone attending Pre-Cana this Sunday at Corpus Christie in Hasbrouck Heights? I'm a little anxious because I have no idea what to expect - can anyone give some feedback/pointers and share their experiences?

:)

Pre-cana itself is fine, couples talk about their marriages with you, you do a workbook and there is a little ceremony at the end which was really nice. We started with the Newlywed Game. The worst was the one we had to go to calleds something like "Gods Life" it was so long (all day!) and boring and had nothing to do with anything.

We actually had fun at pre cana lol!  Ours was about 4 hours and the couples were great...one was married 25 years, the other 10 years and the other 15 years.  They talked about different topics...finances, communication etc and then we split up and did a little questionnaire and then compared answers w the FI.  Have fun w it is all I can say :)  Good luck!

Your Priest should tell you when and where you need to go.

Pre-cana wasn't bad at all for us, I actually liked it.  The priest at the church we went to was funny and animated and reminded me of Roberto Benigni from "Life is Beautiful".  It wasn't preachy at all, and they brought up good points about things you should talk about, etc.
Like Maddie said, the "God's Plan for a Joyful Marriage" class was a whole different story.  It was brutal.  They make you watch a video on natural family planning and every couple in it has about six kids.  Hmm...

Thanks ladies! Glad to hear some of you had fun. Is the God's Plan for a Joyful Marriage one mandatory? I never signed up for that one, just Pre-Cana....

i guess check with your priest/church.  in the book it says its mandatory by the archdiocese of newark but on here i'm seeing some churches do not make you take it.  i'm calling my priest today to see if i can get out of it! :)
