Hotels: Hyatt or Hamilton Park?

My fiance and I visited both the Morristown Hyatt and Hamilton Park Hotel in Florham Park. (We also toured the Marriott and eliminated that one early on). Each had their pros and cons. We liked the swanky lobby bar feel of the Hyatt, but weren't crazy about the rooms. It's also nice that they are right in the center of Morristown so guests that come in on Friday night have their choice of restaurants/night-life and aren't trapped at the hotel. Hamilton Park was very quiet when we walked in, but the rooms were nicer. Both places have comparable bars for the after-party which is important since we are having a Saturday afternoon wedding.

Anyone use either of these hotels and can provide your opinion?

Thank you!

Re: Hotels: Hyatt or Hamilton Park?

  • I stayed at Hamilton Park hotel after a friend's wedding. The hotel was gorgeous! It seemed to have very nice grounds. The actual wedding was not held there so I dont really have any info about that, but I did enjoy my stay there.
  • I'm biased because I'm getting married at the Hamilton Park Hotel.  I also looked at the Morristown Hyatt but, as silly as it is, I hated the orange decor knowing I'm having a pink Spring wedding.  Anway, the rooms are so nice at the HPH and they won't have another wedding during mine.  I also love the outdoor space for cocktail hour.  I'm so excited!

  • Thanks for the feedback! I should have clarified that we are getting married at the Park Savoy, but our guests will be staying at one of the two hotels above.

  • Be careful with the Hamilton Park, we booked them and they told me that the bar would stay open until 2am....thh night of my wedding (which was not at the hotel) they closed the bar at 1 am and gave us no reasoning why.
  • We are getting married at the Park Savoy too- I am so excited! We chose the Hyatt simply because of its location in Morristown. We are having a Saturday night wedding and we have a lot of guests coming in on Friday, so it seemed like the best option. It offers a lot of options for the guests to eat, shop, etc. on Friday night and Saturday during the day without having to drive around. Since they provide a shuttle to and from the Park Savoy, guests from out of town (mostly down south) don't need to worry about finding places to go. The Hyatt also offered us a ridiculously good rate compared to the Westin, which we also considered.

That would totally annoy me too, but we were told the bar area is open until 2 but last call is at 1:15am.  Maybe they weren't clear with you?

No they did last call at 12:30 and closed the bar at 1.....they told me what they told you before as well but it didnt seem to be the case.
  • Got it... we have the 1:15am last call / 2am close in our contract but I will be sure it bring it up before the wedding and remind them that it's in the contract!  thanks!
