We hired Matt Rainey for our wedding. He shoots for The Star-Ledger and has won a Pulitzer Prize for his photojournalism (I came across him because I had previously worked in the newspaper industry myself).

Plus he's just a great guy, very fun and personable. Our family and bridal party all loved him. I think $5k would be enough to book him.

You definitely want a wedding photojournalist rather than a regular photojournalist, no matter how good.  A wedding is not a sporting event or a breaking news story.  Photojournalists focus on getting pictures with impact but are not necessarily good with the flow of a wedding day and all the emotions and people involved.
