I have to say, I was exhausted last night after my shower...you feel very overwhelemed with everything. BUT - it was amazing.
First let me say the web of lies my family had me in is amazing. I'm usually good about picking up on stuff so I figured it wouldn't be a surprise. My mom went as far as to send me a graduation inviitation for one of my cousins and had my FI convince me we had to go (when I said I might RSVP no) because it was my shower. Then, my dad and brother made me think my dad was surprising my mom for Mother's Day by taking her away so we had to celebrate on Saturday because they wouldn't be around Sunday. All lies!
The theme was wine and everything my girls and mom did was amazing. One of my friends is starting a side business making cakes and candies. She made a two-tiered cake that looked like a woven basket with grapes and a bottle of wine on top (I'll post pics when I get them). Instead of a wishing well or recipe cards that I've seen before, the guest got a tag with their invite and were told to bring a bottle of wine and fill out the tag. I had fun reading what people wrote on the tags. It was "I think you'll like this wine because...." one of my mom's friends wrote "it'll make you horny!" :-)
My BP, mom, and FMIL each decorated a bottle of wine for our "firsts" in marriage. I've seen it before but since we're both teachers in addition to first anniversary and first Valentine's Day, we got first day of school, first snow day.
I can't tell you how amazed I was at my mom and BP - I only have 3 girls in it and they all live in different states. Only 2 were able to make it, but those 2 girls did an unbelievable job.
Ok - I just had to tell you guys! For those that haven't had your shower - you'll love it! Of course, I got nothing done yesterday, we have 3 different places to go for Mother's Day today so it looks like (cough, cough) I may be home from work tomorrow :-)
