My engagement pics/ make up trial?

So i have always had this make up artist in mind to do my make up. Her name is Reyna Sheek and she is an up and coming stylist/ make up artist. I will be doing my engagement pictures  in the coming weeks. So I was thinking why not do my trial the day of the pics? The only thing is my wedding is not till a year and change away. Is it to early to do the trial? Also her fee for the trail is 60 is this a good price for a trail?

I think it depends on how much you trust her.  Some girls on here think it's a great idea to have the trial done before e-pics because you get to see how the makeup photographs.  On the other hand, others will tell you that it's not a great idea because if you wind up hating the trial then you'll wind up hating your e-pics.  It's a decision you have to make that's dependent on whether or not you're sure you'll be happy with the makeup trial and you trust the makeup artist to do at least a decent job.

My trial was $50, which is about average I think.

I did this and didn't regret it. I think my trial was $50? But, things fell through in a bad way with my first makeup artist so I didn't end up with her- but I was very happy to have my makeup done for my e-pics. Definitely recommend getting your makeup done regardless

I agree with Allie, I would get your makeup done for your engagement pictures regardless. I decided a week before that I wanted to have it done, so I only went to the nearest MAC counter, but I am happy I did.

That said, if you like the style of makeup that Reyna does and you feel confident that she will be able to do what you'd like, I'd say go ahead and have her do the trial for you for your pictures. When are your pictures scheduled for? In the next few weeks or a few months from now?

Even if its too far out, at least if you like the trial you can book her and not have to worry that she might be taken on your wedding day if she's gaining popularity like you said.

I think $60 seems fair for the trial. I have mine today and am paying $45, so its still in the same general range.

I agree with peaches that it could backfire if you don't like the trial.  Maybe bring backup makeup so you can do your own if the trial doesn't work out?

I'd also be conscious of what your wedding day look is going to be.  If you want something smoky or dramatic at your wedding, that isn't going to translate well to daytime photos in a park.  But if you want a very natural look, that would probably work for your engagement photos.
