Was it worth it: chiavari chairs

If you rented chiavari chairs for your reception, do you think it was worth it? Did it make much of a difference? I love the way they look, but I'm thinking for the money Im probably gonna be the only person to notice them :)

I didnt order but I really wanted to.  My sales manager told me that it would be cheaper from them to buy chivari chairs, but they are very uncomfortable.  Plus he said what you said. No one will notice.

I didn't need to order as I liked the chairs at our venue- but I think the question isn't will people notice (bc I think some might) but how can I spend this money so people will notice the most? I think there are other areas to put that money that will be more noticeable and have a better impact on your wedding.

I can honestly say that for most of the weddings I have been to, I do not remember the chairs. I remember other things, like their centerpieces, decor, etc.

Like Sherri said, I think there are other areas to spend the money on that will make a bigger impact, if you want. Otherwise save the money and put it towards your honeymoon :)

They were my venue's default so we didn't have to pay for them, so I don't know if they're *worth it* really, but I do notice them when I'm at an event.  I may not walk in the room and squee "omgchiavarichairs!!!!," but I think that they tend to look a lot classier than some of the fug reception hall chairs I've seen (and I think chair covers can look awkward or messy), so they just kind of add to the overall look.

We got a ton of comments about the pink cushions that we ordered for our chairs, so people *do* notice silly details like chairs.

As Sherri says though, they may not compare favorably to other details for the bank for the buck -- and I'd add that it probably depends on your venue's decor.  In a super-ornate room they (and even really fug chairs) may get totally lost so it may not be worth it, but in a simpler room they would stand out more.

I completely agree with uppereast. We had them & I think they were totally worth it, but that is coming from a person who notices chairs at weddings. I think it changes the look of a room.  Go for it if it's important to you. If not, spend the money elsewhere...or save it!

I think they are very pretty, but my parents hate them!  Our reception place doesn't have them, but every place we went to my parents would complain that the choavari chairs are really uncomfortable to sit in.  For what its worth!

honestly i hate  "banquet chairs" and what I hate even more are chair covers!! to me it looks like the whoel room is swimming in table cloth-like fabric. and i hate the bows they tie on them. but thats just me ; )

we are renting chivalri chairs, they go with my decor better and the seem to look more classy and modern than regular chairs...

if they are more uncomfortable- sorry! i hope that everyone will be dancing anyway ; )

Waste of money, people are sitting on them, not staring at them!

haha OK thank you all so much for your advice. Realistically there is no way my FI would allow us to spend 1-2k on chairs and I couldnt really stomach that either. They look very pretty, but our venue's chairs arent bad :)

I am glad that we rented them, well we really didn't have a choice because the chairs they had were horrible.  And I hate chair covers.  They were beautiful and I found them to be comfortable.

Are they really *that* uncomfortable to those who think they're uncomfortable?  What is the issue?  The back?  The depth?  The seat itself?

I'm just wondering because I've never noticed a chair -- any kind of chair -- at a reception being either comfortable or uncomfortable.  (And it isn't like all of my wedding memories are from long, long ago -- my most recent experience was at a wedding a week and a half ago where I sat on a chiavari chair, which I was perfectly happy in.)  I've been uncomfortable in chairs at times in my life certainly, but a wedding chair has never made an impression on me one way or another.  So maybe I'm immune to some element of comfort that others aren't?

I feel like I'm usually not sitting down for all that long at weddings anyway?
