destination wedding

hello, my FI and I are considering a destination wedding to Los Cabos Mexico.
We have given the traditional wedding much thought, and with our goals and plans we are looking to save money towards other things.

I would like to know if anyone who has had a destination wedding has had any regrets whatsoever?

I would like to know approx. what some of you may have spent on your destination wedding *to mexico. We would not be paying for our guests hotel or airfare.

thanks ladies!

My friend had a destination wedding at The Moon Palace in Riviera Maya, Mexico.  She absolutely raved about it and was so glad she did it.  From what I know, she had a very good experience.

A friend of mine had a destination wedding in Mexico and while she said it was wonderful, she was a bit disappointed that only a very few people actually came to the wedding.   It is expensive to travel and people may not have the money to do it.  If you are OK with the possibility of people not coming then I say go for it!

FI went to a destination wedding in Aruba  three years ago and he and the couple said it was an amazing time.  They actually had a pretty large turn out with about 40 people.

My close friend got married in Vegas and absolutely loved it. The only thing she was disappointed about was many people couldn't be there to celebrate with her - the cost of going to a destination wedding is often times very burdensome, and some people just don't have that money. My friend totally understood, but there were definitely people quite close to her, even family members, who just couldn't make it. Even one of her BM's had to cancel last minute b/c her infant son got very sick during that week - had the wedding been local, she likley could've come for a few hours. As long as you're ok with the fact that you will likely have at least a few people who aren't able to attend, then I'd say go for it!

If done properly, a destination wedding can cost as much as a traditional wedding.
