Weather Question

So I'm thinking of doing our wedding in mid-April but I haven't been in NC long enough to get an idea of what April weather is generally like. I want an outdoor wedding up around Mt. Airy in mid-April but I don't know how feasible that is. I'm already planning on renting a tent for the reception and the ceremony area is covered so I'll be fine for light drizzles/rain - but I have heard of it snowing in April around here which would not be good.

So if anyone can give me some insight into NC weather I'd appreciate it.

It does snow occasionally in April but i woukdnt worry too much about that. However, being outside, it may be chilly still. I would check a weather website that has an almanac (I think that's the right word) and look at the temp averages from the past like 3-5 years for Mt Airy.

I wouldn't worry much about snow, but I think it'll be too cold still that time of year for an outdoor ceremonty/wedding.  Especially if it's in the evening.

My wedding was the end of April and the weather was perfect in Charlotte.  But 2 weeks before there was a string of tornadoes through the state, so the weather is definitely hit-or-miss.  If you're set on having it outdoors just make sure you have all your bases covered with fans or heaters and a big enough tent for all activites to be covered.

Hmm... that's a good point about it potentially being cold. The wedding is a lunchtime wedding/reception so it won't be going into the evening. I guess if its too cold, we can always use the campground's dining hall - its big enough that we could set up dividers to do the ceremony and reception.
