Uplighting

I'm curious who has used or is going to use uplighting? Why yes or no? If you chose yes, what color and rough cost? Was it through your dj or a lighting company?

My mother and I spoke about lighting and she hates it. I just wanted an idea if I'm being sucked in by David Tutera lol. Thanks ladies!!

The place we are having our reception offers uplighting.. it is $800 if we want to use it. We are going to use it.. we saw the room both with and without the lighting and we loved it much  more with the lights.(the room is very white and the lights are a nice enhancement) I'm not sure what color we're going to do yet.. I want to see a few to make the decision..but definitely NOT the blue color that you see all the time.

The lighting makes the room just transform into something magical! It was our splurge and Im so glad we did it! My DJ (Dash of Class) did it for $150 extra. It was so worth it! He changed the lighitng throughout the night, it was so cool.

We are using Elite Sound and we are doing our lighting with them.  I just think that it gives a room more atmosphere!

We are having a lighting specialist from Gemini Productions. It's costing a few thousand bc our ballroom is very large and needs more lights then on average. We are Also having them do a "slow roll" during the evening but haven't picked the colors yet, which costs extra bc they have to link the led pannels to each other. We're also getting "intelligent lighting" for the dance floor. You'll find huge variations in price depending on how many you need and whether they are LEDs on cans. LEDs are more but wash the walls better so you don't get hard beams of light/ stripes up your walls. I hope this helps a little!!

We are doing it too but haven't decided DJ versus venue. We are going to use colors that match our decor, but we haven't decided that either, lol. They say lighting makes a huge difference; is there a way you can see photos of your room both with and without?

I wanted uplighting from the beginning but the reception site we chose really made me decide to do it.  The venue is very plain, which we wanted, but after seeing pictures of another knottie's wedding there without uplighting, it really sealed the deal for FI and I in deciding we "needed" it (I use the term "need" loosely because, well, we don't really need any of these splurges! haha).  We are using JB Lighting and I believe it is $50 per light, so how many you need and the pricing relies on the size of your venue (we are paying $750 total).  They will be changing the colors throughout the night and will have an attendant there throughout the reception.  Check out their site: http://jblightingproduction.com/JBwedding.htm

My venue offers uplighting and they charge $ 400. I would most likely use a Raspberry Pink color. My DJ also offers intelligent lighting. That's where the room changes colors as the mood of the room or the reception progresses. They charge $ 700. for that. I'm still undecided on which one I will use but I'll definetly have lighting because I just think it gives the room that super star look. I love it

We may do it through our DJ (Dash of Class), but only because it's only $150. If cost anything more than that (literally anything), I don't think I could justify it.

I also thought it made a huge difference at my venue. If it's something you can fit in your budget, I think it's definitely worth it.

We used JB Lighting and were very happy with everything. I would highly recommend Jim.

I think uplighting just changes the mood of the room.  It goes from, "Oh, this is nice" to "Wow!"
