STD poem help needed...

I posted this on the Latino Weddings board, but since I get such great help from you girls all the time, I thought maybe someone here would be able to help...

For our invites we're going to have a single panel card that has both English and Spanish on it, but for the STD's we're just sending out separate English and Spanish batches.

I like the STD poem that goes:
"Our day is fast approaching
And we can hardly wait
So put this magnet on your fridge
And be sure to Save The Date!"

Does anyone know of (or can anyone think of) a good Spanish STD poem?  It doesn't have to be like the English poem, but I do want it to get the point across that there is a magnet and it should be stuck to something, haha.

TIA for any and all help!

Just curious why do you need a poem? I am not being snarky, I'm always curious why people use poems so much during weddings lol.

This is literally the only poem being used related to my wedding.  In this case, I think the poem is a cute way to establish the fact that there is a magnet attached to the card they're looking at and they should take it off and stick to their fridge as a reminder.  I think it's a bit nicer than making a note on the card that says, "Psst, that thing down below is a magnet.  Use it."

Poems are songs without a musical accompaniment and lyrics/poems just make bland, boring things more interesting and flowery.  I don't see anything wrong with using lyrics/poems in relation to a wedding... they're used on birthday things, thank you things, shower things, party things etc... so why not wedding things?

Honestly, I think they will get the point that it is magnetic w/o a poem.  If you really think your guests won't know, why not just label the back "magnetic"---- seems easier to me.

If you still want to use a poem, go for it.... although I don't know of any in spanish.

Writing it on the back wouldn't help.  I'm sticking the magnet to a panel card that I'm making and, again, I think the poem is a nicer way to let guests know that it's a magnet without just writing "MAGNET" on the card.

I think you guys are forgetting the fact that we would be "in the know" about the magnets because we're in the middle of planning our weddings and hear about them all the time.  But for our guests (especially the older ones), a STD magnet is something totally new that they've never seen/heard of before.

I'm not understanding- the magnet isn't on the back of the STD?  Do they have to put it together in order to put it on their fridge?

I know they may not have seen  magnet STD before but they have seen magnets before so, like I said, I think it's unnecessary.

My STD is going to consist of a panel card with the poem written on the front and the magnet stuck to the panel card below the poem using removable glue dots.

And, once again, I really appreciate your advice and Cheryl's about the fact that people will supposedly know it's a magnet without me telling, but that wasn't what I asked in the original post.  I know that there are plenty of people who will know it's a magnet, but there are also plenty of people who won't realize that it's a magnet (not because they're stupid, but because they aren't going to examine it closely enough)... so in order to avoid wasting the money that I'm spending making the magnets if they're just going to be thrown away, I'd like to let people know straight up that on the card is a magnet that they can use.

I'd rather not assume they'll know what it is... after all (like my high school English teacher once said): When you ASSUME, you make an ASS out of U and ME.  Tongue out

peaches I think you're being a bit snarky here. They were just giving you their honest opinions. I also don't think it's necessary, and I don't put STD magnets on the fridge they stay in the drawer.

I did some looking and I think this is kinda cute. Couldn't find anything else besides what you had above.

    Here is a magnet
    For you to post
    To remember the day

I wasn't trying to be snarky by any means.  I was just responding to their honest advice with my own honest opinions.  I like the STD poems, I'm going to use them regardless of what other girls on here think, but I just need a Spanish poem to use in place of the English one.  Honestly, this whole thread is reminding me of the one that took place about the bathroom basket poem when everyone started criticizing the use of bathroom basket poems when the girl was simply asking for some examples of the poems that are used (oh, and then I got criticized for saying that bathroom baskets would go missing with my crowd, haha).  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue out" title="Tongue out" />  PS - Please don't flame me for that again!  I took enough abuse the first time around!

somehow I missed that you wanted it in Spanish.... can't you just translate it? I don't think it has to rhyme necessarily

:-)  No worries!  I was going to just translate it (and I might wind up doing that), but I was hoping to possibly find something a bit nicer sounding (in Spanish).  I'm sure the whole rhyming poem thing sounds cheesy to some, but as a middle school teacher I've grown to love and embrace the cheese at times!  :-)

I can't help you with the spanish but this is what I did. "____ and ____ are excited to announce their upcoming wedding and can't wait! Here is a magnet to remind you to Save the Date!"

I started handing out my magnet STD's this weekend, also mounted on cards, but held on by slits in each corner so you can easily remove the magnet part. About half the people we handed them to didn't realize they were magnets. So I definitely think your poem is a good idea. The magnet is thin enough that people just seem to assume it's thick paper. My Spanish is nowhere near good enough to help with the translation, though. Sorry!

Thanks noones!  My guests would be like yours... at least half wouldn't realize it's a magnet attached.  I'll definitely do the poem - I just have to keep searching for a Spanish one now.
