Engagement Party Favors????

I have not been to an engagement party in forever so I honestly don't remember much but do you give favors? My parents are throwing my fiance and I our EP next weekend and it just occured to me that we do not have any favors? Do we need them? Is this the norm?

I have never been given favors at an engagement party & would think it was a wierd wasye of money if I got one.  Relax.  They are not needed.

I went to an engagement party two months ago and didn't receive a favor. Don't worry about it - I don't think it's the norm.

We made sugar cookies and had our names and "engaged" input into the cookie, decorated them, then wrapped them in small plastic bags. Gave them to guests as they left. Didn't cost much but they looked nice.

We gave out chocolate caramel truffles. They were a huge hit with our guests.

I've only been to 1 engagement party where they gave favors.  They were little tins of mints "EngageMINTS".  Cute idea but the mints tasted like crap.  Save your money!

We got a few dozen cookies from shoprite, then got white bakery boxes and ribbon that matched our invites.  Put some crinkle paper in with about three cookies and had stickers made up too.  They were extremely cheap to put together, I think about $50 all together, but it also helps that my FSIL did the stickers and had the idea for everything.

It is a waste of time and money. Never received one at an EP and wouldn't expect it. Skip them.

We had bowls of chocolate "engagement rings" that I made from a mold @ Michaels that we had by the door...it was a big hit!

We also had favors at our engagement party.  I think it varies by couple but do whatever makes you happy :)

I think favors at any type of formal party are a nice touch.  We had cooking timers that were the shape of a champagne bottle and they said "it's about time!"  They were not expensive and a good conversation piece.

I think a favor is a small token of appreciation, and usually expected at formal parties as USER said. We got mine at the Christmas tree shops. They had (last year) and have again this year, these beautiful painted glass leaves. We bought short pillar candles there, and between the two I think spent about $3. But the leaves were so beautiful they could be given out alone. Seriously, I highly recommend trying there.
