Double Digits!

I officially hit the double digits today - 99 days to go!  The past few months have just flown by, and I have so much left to do.  FI's ring just came in the mail this morning, so that is a relief.  Here's what I am trying to accomplish ASAP:

Book transportation (waiting for my mom to book her flight)
Need to purchase shoes, accessories, etc.
Work on reception playlist (we are using an iPod)
Decide on ceremony music (I actually think I decided the day my WC sent me the list but need to revisit)
Oh, and my main task is to focus on food and the gym!

There are so many other items on my list, but I am trying to prioritize and not get overwhelmed.  I'm a little nervous about how this will all come together, but I have confidence in the vendors I have booked thus far, so I'm sure it will somehow.

Re: Double Digits!

  • For the start of the reception and dinner I plan to play a few Vitamin String Quartet songs, some Sinatra, and others TBD.  I am going to try to find some playlists online this weekend, so hoping that will help.  I think the hard part will be selecting the song order, so the music flows.

Then somehow I think I need to transition from the dinner music to the more "fun" music - maybe some Elvis or Motown?  After that, I'm just going to stick to music that I FI and I like and I know most of my guests will enjoy (e.g, The Beatles, Journey, some top 40-type stuff).  We don't have space for a dance floor, so I don't have to worry about trying to keep them dancing all night.

  • I am already married.. but i have to chime in on the playlist/choosing song issue.. It was causing me such stress  that I did what PP said and gave it to my husband to figure out. Well he waited until 2 days before we left. I was furious!
He happens to have an enormous love for music. So he just picked songs he knew we liked and the guests would like and made a playlist on grooveshark.com
@ MB bay with the internet we figured we could stream it and plug the ipad into the speakers.

Well the wedding day came and we forgot about the music! Our reception was in the Vista Suite. There was so much conversation between guests that I honestly didn't even realize there was no music. So i worried my self sick over nothing. BUt eh..

I dont know why music is so diffiuclt to choose!?

  • magic34k - That's too funny about the music.  You obviously had a great reception!
Do you live in Portland or the surrounding area?  Growing up, I spent my summers with my grandparents in Canby.  I love Oregon.

I know it will all work out somehow.  Maybe I am putting too much thought into the music.  If I get this done within the next couple weeks, it will be such a relief!

  • I do live in Portland. Canby isn't too far away.. Although I have never had a reason to go there.

    We had a blast! I wouldn't change a thing.

Congrats Ladies.. Time will fly so fast!
  • Hey, May ladies!!  Congrats on single digits!!  :)

I'm feeling very overwhelmed, too.  I'm going to start addressing our invites this weekend so I don't have a ton to do at once.
