Nevada-Las Vegas

Venue Ideas

This planning seems to be driving me a bit crazy. I'm a Texan that is getting married in Vegas in July. I have venues narrowed down between a few chapels (vegas weddings and COF) and a few hotels (Luxor and Treasure Island). Does anyone have any suggestions and ideas for a great reception site? We are trying to keep this whole wedding small (abt 20-30 guests). I appreciate all of the help I can get!!!

My vote is always for downtown.  I stayed in the Luxor years ago and didn't care for it.

I don't get married often, but when I do, I do it in Las Vegas.

I have probably posted this a million times on here, but COF is not in the best area...north of the strip.  IMO it's a bit seedy.  While I have seen great reviews for them and had a great experience when I was initially planning my ceremony there, I was just not able to get over the area.  One bride recently posted a link to her COF pics though and they are beautiful!  Their photography is very impressive.  Check the board for her review post- the subject was 'so good to be home'.

Also, there are tons of reception options for 20-30 guests.  I'd start with the knottie bio list for vegas.

    Ditto aegrish!

Ive stayed at Luxor a couple years ago and also didn't care for it. We are getting married at Caesars...so I guess Im a little bias, but I love the strip chapels. There are so many options, garden ceramony, walking down a redcarpet before, ontop of the Eiffel Tower or Stratosphere, outside a shark reef...your possibilities are endless...especially with a small group. You could even do a insuite ceramony/reception. MGM & Cosmopolitan both have suites with terraces that overlook the strip.

Third on the Luxor comments; the place is really run down in the pyramid.  I'd have thought they'd refurbish it by now but the fact that they haven't makes me wonder if they're just going to milk the novelty of side-moving elevators for a few more years and implode the thing.

I would be sad if (when) that happens.Ben & I refer to Luxor as "our hotel." Luxor was the hotel Ben & I stayed at the first time we went to Vegas and we still stay there quite often. It's usually cheap and we tend to stay in the MB/MGM/NYNY area when we're on the strip. Yes, it is bit run down. It does need quite a bit of TLC, maybe once the economy picks up in Vegas. And Lusor has one of my favorite restaurants on the strip: Tacos n' Tequila. The best ceviche.

That said, I wouldn't pick them as to get married at or to spend my wedding night. I'd rather splurge a bit for that and stay somewhere nicer.
