how soon did you send out invites?

I already sent my STD's, but since this is a destination wedding, I know you are supposed to send them a little sooner than normal. Just trying to figure out how soon I need to start stressing about them. :)

We are sending ours 6 months in advance. Everyone except the groom's father will have to travel, so we wanted to give people plenty of time. However, we did not do STD's, so that effected our decision to send them so early.

I sent STDs about 7 months out, and then invites at about 10 weeks out.

we are sending out our invitations this week for our wedding in october. guidance i saw suggested 6 to 8 weeks before hand for a destination wedding...save the dates help. if you send out save the dates, they already have forewarning.

We sent ours out yesterday for our 10/8 wedding. We did send out save the dates. Basically I was finished with them and wanted to get them out of the house. I also wanted to get them out before my brother moves on 8/1.

I don't think it's all that necessary to send out your invites very far in advance if you sent them STDs. I think our invites went out somewhere in the 8-10 week area.

I'm send ours out on Monday for our October 24th wedding. We sent out STD's about 9 months out.

I am sending mine out 10 weeks ahead since everyone is flying in. I sent out my STD's a while ago. We were just so excited to be able to send them. My FI and I are dorks and get excited over everything. I love that he is so supportive. He even went with me to find tissue in the right colors which we went to a lot of stores for. He thinks its fun!

Ours are going out at 8 weeks, maybe closer to 10 if I get them done sooner. We're right at 9 months out now, STDs will be going out as soon as I get them done. Honestly, I think that as long as you send out STDs, the regular 6-8 week timeframe is fine.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I want to send mine out... like... NOW for my wedding over a year from now, hahaha. However, I'm restraining myself.I will be doing my scouting trip exactly one year before my planned wedding date, so after I do that and book my venue I will send my Save-the-Dates... probably 10-11 months before the wedding. I want to send my invitations very early, but I'll likely wait for the 10 week range. I just worry that if people dont' have their invitations they won't make their travel arrangements... and then won't show up! I'm going to try to REALLY stress my wedding website on my Save-The-Dates so that I can use THAT to keep everyone up-to-date on the wedding plans and what they should be booking. (I'm using my website as more of a friends & family resource than a planning bio). Since I don't think people will actually read the link if I put it on the STD card, I may make a separate little insert so that they can't help but notice it. :)

I sent mine a little over 6 weeks from the date I needed to give a final headcount/pay the rest of the deposit to the chapel. I wanted people to have time to scout out hotels and airfare. The date I gave as the RSVP was actually 2 weeks before my deadline at the chapel, in case (yeah..... not if - when) I need to call and get yes's/no's from people who didn't bother to send the cards back. So far, that's 26 of the 31 of the invites I sent.....My chapel requires final payment 30 days in advance, so, my invites when out earlier than traditional etiquette would say (which I believe is 4-6 weeks) and that of course is different for a destination wedding, anyway.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew

We're getting married in December. I sent out the Save the Dates in June. Originally we were going to send out the invitations in October. But then I realized that the guests have to reserve their rooms by November 19th to get the discounted rate. So we decided to send them out in September. This will give them two months to reserve the room. I figure an extra month before the wedding can't hurt when my guests will basically be flying across the country haha.

For our 9/19/09 wedding at the MGM, we asked that everyone reply by 7/19/09 for a couple of reasons. First of all, we had to have a final headcount to the MGM for our ceremony and reception attendance by early August - that way, the majority of the RSVPs were in by 7/19 and I still had two weeks to track down everyone else to see if they were coming or not. Secondly, that gave our guests enough time to decide that they were coming and could look around for deals on rooms, but still have time to book at the MGM with our group rate before 8/19 if they wanted (the date the hotel releases any unbooked rooms in our block). I think that we sent our STDs around January - early, I know - but that gave the people being invited a 9-month heads up to start saving money :) Our invitations went out in June. We may have jumped the gun, but we've got our head count pretty solidified with a month and a half to go, so it takes some of the stress and questions about food/drink/favors off of my shoulders.
