Not doing E-pics

So my mother has been on me to give her a nice photo of FI and I so she can put it in the paper.  First of all, I don't have a nice recent photo of us.  Second of all, I really don't feel the need to have an engagement announcement.  We aren't spring chickens.  While it is the first marriage for both of us we have lived together for over 10 years.  I assume most people already think we are married. Anyway, long story short if she really wants to put a photo in the paper I suggested waiting until after the wedding and putting in a wedding announcement.  That way I am sure to have an AWESOME vegas shot to show off to people too :) Thoughts?  Do I just go ahead and do it for my Mom's sake - I assume part of it is she is really excited about the wedding (I am an only child) and would like people to know we just got engaged.

    If you don't have a real strong objection, I would just do it. It sounds like it would make her day; she could show all of her friends.

    She's against the wedding announcement? or she doesn't want to wait?I'd also wait until your married with a wicked pic from the wedding.....but if she really wants to do this... get out the digital camera and take a shot for her.   :)

    Depends on what you want, I would die of embarassment if my mom put an announcement in the paper so I would definately not allow it. If you really don't want her to then tell her not to, she'll get over it.

    She isn't "against" the wedding announcement - I think it is just the waiting that is the problem.  I'm not doing both and I agree that the photos I bring home from Vegas will kick any stupid pic I take of us now :)  I know she thinks it is a little weird.  We have a small town paper and I can't say I have ever seen a wedding announcement.  It is always just e-pics.Maybe I'll talk to her some more and see how much this is really going to bother her.

    Give her your camera and have her take a bunch of photos of you guys and pick out the one she likes best. Your mom could be asking for a lot worse hahaha. I'm on your side though with using an awesome wedding pic though. :)

    We did an engagement announcement...but i think it is fine to wait until the wedding announcement.

    I would "suggest" nicely that she wait for a wedding announcement, since it would be a nice pro picture, but if she were opposed i'd just grab the digital and do it. That's just me tho, if it were important to my mom, i'd rather just bite my tongue and do it since it would make her happy and it's not that big of an inconvenience anyway. Even though it's been 10 years in the making, i'm sure she's thought about the day her little girl would be married, and it's very special to her. =)
