Escort Card Idea

This idea just popped in my head and I wanted to see what you ladies thought of it.

My wedding's colors are going to be turquoise and red and it's in May, which happens to be NC strawberry season.  And as we all know, NC strawberries are THE best strawberries to grace this Earth

So my idea is to take mini pails like this:





but ones that are turquoise (or spraypaint the outside if necessary).  Put some bunched tissue paper in the bottom to act as a cushion.  Then fill the pail with tasty strawberries from the Farmer's Market:



To finish it off, tie to the pail's handle the person's name and paint in red their table number on the pail prominently.

Cool?  Dumb?  Will I go crazy making 60 of these?

Ummm can I come?!?! I LOOOOVVEEEEEZ strawberrys and I think IMO that is an awesomely amazing idea and is super nifty (Plus I love that you'd go to the farmers market, better berries plus supporting local growers ).  I think Ikea sells those pails, but Im sure there are a tone of other places that sell them too

And heck yeah, local food's the way to go, ESPECIALLY with strawberries!  California strawberries don't stand a chance against our local jewels!

I think it sounds very fun! You'd definitely want to get friends & family together to help make them though or you just might go crazy! Would you be willing to just keep the pails white and use turquoise tissue paper? That sounds a lot easier than painting 60 pails. Just a thought!

I absolutely love that idea and strawberries are one of my favorite foods in the world! I don't think it would be too much work. This is something you could do while watching tv. I would recommend getting paint pens to write the names rather than just painting them on. It would be SO much faster...and unless you're a much better with a paint brush than me it would look a lot better too :-) 

I really want to steal your idea, but we'll have around double the amount of people. I don't think it would be too much work but I was planning on escort cards being one of the cheap things. haha

I think it is a great idea! I love those pails and have used them for various projects in the past. I am pretty sure that Hobby Lobby or AC Moore's would have them. I think that is where I got the ones that I used. I would also check Target and Walmart. Cute idea and by putting their names on them, the pails could defnitely be reused!

I here ya wlpkbride on the escort cards!  I figure this way they can double as the favors and we were already planning on having strawberries on the buffet at least.  I'm just changing where they go heh.

Now I wish I were getting married during strawberry season - great idea!  Be sure to check your local dollar stores or Oriental Trading online, we have found they have lots of container type things for favors, but I don't know specifically about buckets.

Hmm... FI brought up the good point that maybe not many berries can fit in a 3" bucket.  But you can usually get small sized strawberries at the market can't you?  I guess I could always drag my sister to that strawberry farm outside Raleigh and pick whatever size we want heh.
