How do I... Or should I not...

I've created a wedding website for our guests to go on the save the dates, etc.  I started a registry at Belk, but we are also saving money to fence part of the backyard for Jack, our dog (who also needs a friend once we get a fence).  We need a fence so Jack doesn't chase the schools buses, big trucks which go down the hwy we live off of.

Is it rude to include a fund for the fence on our registry webpage? I don't want to add it at all if its rude.  But if its not, then I have no clue how to word it/add it.  I am thinking just word of mouth is probably best but I wanted to see what yall think too.  So..what do you think?

Hmm...I think people would love to help you with the fence project, but I think leaving it off the website and just passing along the information by word of mouth would be the best way to go about it. That way, people who you are close to can help with the fence if they want and other people (from out of town, etc) who don't talk to you very often can just buy something from the regular registry. IMO, I don't think it's "rude", but I guess it's just a little awkward to put on the website. Haha! HTH!

We had this same issue as Lucy too needs a fence. Our parents have kinda of spread word of mouth. We didnt register for many items as we didnt really feel like we needed much, but a fenced in yard would be AWESOME! Sadly though, due to the HO (even though there are only three houses here in the neighborhood so far and only two of the houses are lived in, we have to have a specific kind of fence.

We're thinking the white scalloped picket fence will work best :)

Okay, totally went on a tangent, anyways, I'd do word of mouth :)

I think, like pps, word of mouth is best.

Ok thanks! I agree too.  Just needed to confirm that idea.  Ncsu- I think the white scalloped picket fence is pretty! Yes a fence would be awesome.

Yeah, we really like it, but its a little pricey, plus Im not sure if we would put it in or hire someone to do it for us.

At the moment though without it, Lucy runs around like a wild banche (sp?) and thinks shes the best stuff since pupperonis.

    Best of luck! :)

I don't think it's rude but most people are thinking of things that you will need to start out in your new home together.  While a fence is something the two of you can share it's not quite a necessity such as plates, mixer, pots, forks, spoons, towels, well you get the drift....

I'd get an electric collar fence.  Much cheaper and asthetically much prettier also.

aaawwww common' you are taking all the fun out of a dog's life....chasing the school bus is sooooo much fun, especially when mom is chasing us too!!!

i would do word of mouth....the fence will be a true blessing...we have three dogs and they love the backyard. it is nice just to be able to open the back door and let them run!!

I'm going along with everyone else on this one...word of mouth would be best for this situation.

Word of mouth is good, but your going to get plenty of money from the wedding, so I'm pretty sure you'll be set.

My sis just asked for Home Depot gift certificates to help them fix their house. Did it by word of mouth. Maybe you could mention it indirectly on your site.... Something like an update on your life where you say you're interested in putting in a fence....

"best stuff since pupperonis"  absolutely hilarious. Jack does the same damn thing too. He thinks he is big stuff and it drives us nuts late at night trying to get him to come in.  Hahaha, awww I love dogs.

What about registering for gift cards to the place where you are wanting to get the fence build like lowes or home depot??

I think you can register at Lowes Home Improvement.  So, you could possibly pass it by word of mouth and add that to your registry list and people will understand why you registered there.
