Nevada-Las Vegas

Buffets w/ Private Rooms, Generally Good Restaurants, and Ever Been to Samba?

Hey hey hey,

So I'm now 4 months out and I have to start thinking about our family dinner for the first night we arrive in Vegas.  Our parents have only met once before so we thought it would be nice if on our first night we all went out for dinner (immediate family/some of the WP) and had some food and good conversation before the hordes of guests arrive.

Thought I'd pick your brains before I get in over my head in research, because you are all such helpful fellow Vegas-goers that I know SOMEONE has to have some good info for me. Wink

Parameters: Would really like a space with a private dining area (though I *might* be open to a restaurant without that, if it were really spectacular and still allowed for conversation) and ideally around $40-50 bucks a head--or less!-- would be stellar.  It's for about 12 people, and FI and I would be footing the bill so I'd prefer not to go too crazy.

I initially was thinking a Brazilian steakhouse might be fun, but Pampas has kinda crappy reviews.  Anyone ever been to Samba?  Also, anyone know of any good buffets that would have a private room that I would not have to pay $1,500 for (a la the Wynn)?  Any other reccos outside of that?

TIA!

ETA:  Also, nothing "too" ethnic, unfortunately.  FI's family are kind of afraid of ethnic food, otherwise I would be looking for a good Indian, Thai, or Japanese place.

  • It hasn't been mentioned recently but what about Firefly?  I guess the one at the Plaza is gone but we've been to the one on Paradise and it really is great - cool vibe, good food, etc.

  • LOVE firefly. But I went with a group of 12 and it was kinda hard to have conversation cause the tables are kinda cramped in there. Great prices though and amazing food.

Texas De Brazil is right off the strip. Its a great brazilan steakhouse. Mon Ami Gabi at Paris hotel is yummy food at afordable price as well.

Stack at Mirage would be a fun restaurant to share some items.

Alot of restaurants have a great "pre theater" set menu as well between 5-7pm, just an idea!

</div><div>I would love Wicked Spoon, but I don't think they have a private room.  I might still keep that on my short list, though...haven't gotten to try that one yet (FI and I are going for 3 days in a couple of weeks, so maybe we'll try it then!) but I hear it's one of the best.

I was told they have private/semi-private rooms, but you'd have to book in advance with group reservations.  Worth a look! :)

Let me know what you think of the food if you go - I can't WAIT to try it :)
  • I second Texas de Brazil. It's in Town Square, just a few minutes from the Strip. We went there a few weeks ago for FI's work Xmas party and they had us in a private room. I think they're prices are around $45 pp and it's all you can eat meat and salad bar. Also, you could try Studio B buffet at the M Resort. The are around $25 pp and it includes beer and wine with the buffet. They have a private room that used to be the show kitchen but I'm not sure if there's a minimum. They are one of the best buffets in Vegas, IMO.

  • Wicked Spoon has a private room that seats approx 8-12.  Not sure what they require from you to rent it, but call and ask.

Texas de Brazil is amazing food!

Also in that price range, I am thinking of Lucille's in Henderson.  Would be hard to get to if you aren't renting a car.

  • @texasdivabride - Wicked Spoon quoted me a $3500 F&B minimum.  What day of the week were you looking at?  I'm wondering if it is different depending on the day of the week or time of year?
