Nevada-Las Vegas

Very Basic Vegas

My fiance and I are considering just running off to Vegas to get married, probably 2/29/12. I have never been there and have no idea what to do or what to expect. He has been there once for a wedding at the Bellagio, but we are just wanting to do something simple: me, him, officiant and witnesses off the street (or something!). We've both been married before and don't want to have a big do. No guests ... a reception back home a month or two after the wedding.

Any thoughts, comments or suggestions on keeping it simple, finding a venue, etc.? Thanks in advance!

Hi, welcome to the board! Vegas offers countless solutions, really countless. Do you want to stay on the Strip or off? Do you want a hotel chapel or a spot outdoors, in a villa, golf club etc..? Maybe you'd like to get married at the Las Vegas sign or inside a drop dead gorgeous suite... Considering you'd get married in February I'd go for an indoors ceremony.
Do you know more or less what style you want your wedding to have?

If you are eloping, then why wait until 2012?  There are tons of chapels and it takes no time to get your license.  Hit up Viva Las Vegas chapel, Little White Chapel, Chapel of the West, chapel of the flowers, so on and so forth.  IF you are looking for no fuss, then make a reservation at a chapel and at the license office and run on over to Vegas.  It will probably be a lot of fun for you two.

I would really like to get married outside. The Grove looks lovely.

the grove will not be a no fuss wedding...i wasnt married there (Im a Chapel of the Flowers bride) but  a place where its off the strip not near marriage license office and they give you too many options is gonna be a headache. The chapels will give you a ride to the license office and back, marry you, take pics and its all amazing! and right on the strip to go celebrate! It's really the no brainer Vegas way to get married :)

Kareevan, you have a good point. The simpler the better! I've been checking out the C of F and the reviews all look so positive. This just may be the way to go.

I agree with PP. If you want basic, the chapels are the way to go. The packages include flowers, photography, and often transportation. You can even get some packages that provide transportation to the courthouse the day prior to get your marriage license. It really is amazing how no frills Las Vegas can be. You can always check out 702weddings.com. They don't seem to get used much on here but I think the chapel is cute. This is who we are using in June!

    Good luck with everything!

If it's just the two of you, the possibilities are endless!  You can get married pretty much anywhere you want in Vegas!

I think that the fewer choices I have, the better off I'll be .... too many choices and I get overwhelmed!!!

If you want inexpensive, then you should go with a chapel.  It's quick, easy and painless.  Do you want something traditional with a regular minister or do you want Elvis to marry you?

Hotel chapel packages can start around $300 for the most basic mid-week ceremony.  What do you want?  Fun and campy?  Straight and serious? What do you want to spend?

There is no one size fits all wedding in Vegas.  You probably have MORE choices in LV than you do your typical hometown.  Think about why you want to elope to Vegas (as opposed to a JOP in your city) and then people can probably point you in the direction of something that will work for you.
