Time Allotment for In Suite Reception

HI everyone.

We have hired Masterpiece Catering.

Right now the timeline looks like this:

7pm-9pm - MC food
7-10pm - MC bar service
8-9pm - Travis Allen
7-9p - DJ

We have approx 38-42 guests coming.  I'm worried that 2 hours of music won't be enough, but at the same time I'm worried that we will start to lose people if it's too long (i.e. smokers, gamblers, etc.).

We hired the DJ because I'm worried that the IPOD system will break down (just my  luck).

Thoughts?  Thanks everyone!

People won't leave during bar service....I'd extend to DJ until 10

You have Travis Allen and a dj at the same time?
Can you make so TA is there before dinner for a cocktail hour, then have the dj start at dinner, then have 2 hours of music/dancing/dj after dinner? So the dj is there 3 hours, but one of the hours is dinner.

I would just set food at 7pm and let people eat all night long. I like the time you have for Elvis, but I would just play background music via ipod from 7-8 and start the DJ after Travis so from 9-11pm. I don't think anyone will get bored (especially w/ an Elvis).

Also, are you doing a first dance, bouquet toss or any of the other traditions?
