Reception/After Party Ideas...HELP

Planning a budget wedding in Vegas. I have the ceremony figured out but would like to find a nice club/restaurant to go afterwards. I can't afford to pay for an actual reception, so I'm looking just for a place everyone can go with good music/dancing but not expensive.

I had the same question.  We are doing a post-wedding dinner but not 'reception'...some suggestions were Fontana at the Bellagio, Eyecandy at MB, and Cleopatra's Barge in Caesars.  I have been BY Fontana and Cleopatras (not actually in) and they looked fun, and neither (including EyeCandy) require cover.

What's your budget per person? We might be able to offer suggestions based on this. Also, are you looking for a place on the strip or off?

I recommend Little Buddha in the Palms for a good, cheap menu and drinks packages - the decor there looks amazing and it has the world music ambience that the Buddha Bar are renowned for.... and then afterwards you have a choice of places to go - Ghostabr, Playboy club, Rain, Moon... all within the same building!

These places do have cover, but you can sign onto the guest list easily.

I need ideas too since we are doing a dinner. How about something near the MGM Grand? Preferably not a "night club" where people will be half-naked and drunk. Sorry to be blunt, thanks.

Are you at least treating your guests to something post ceremony?  I think I would be a little annoyed to fly to Vegas for a 30 minute ceremony and then be told to go eat dinner on my own but then meet up a at club or lounge.

Please offer at least a group dinner.  You can probably do something inexpensive at a cafe, buffet or maybe one of the "theme" restaurants on the strip.

That's a long way to come to say, thanks for coming.  Now go buy your own food and drinks.  Oh and pick up the cover if there is one.

Honestly, you can probably do something more budget in your own hometown.  Vegas isn't really a "cheap" alternative unless you are doing a drive-through or quickie wedding wtih no reception.  You can do that at home though...

I don't get married often, but when I do, I do it in Las Vegas.

I kind of half agree with Smokey Bailey that if you can't host a reception maybe you should consider eloping, BUT if you do decide to invite guests, as long as you make it CLEAR that you are NOT hosting a dinner after, maybe if you go to a buffet where its less awkward for people to pay for their own meals, your guests will understand.  I went to my friends wedding in October and my fiance and I were surprised that she hosted a dinner, and would have been totally fine with paying for our own if we had too.  We were just glad we were able to attend.

Thanks for the suggestions! The problem is I live in Orlando so it's not really any cheaper. And I did research and found a company and it is actually cheaper to do exactly what we want in Vegas just minus the reception.

Thus, I wanted to find somewhere affordable to to bring everyone together.

Also, not sure what my budget per person is but looking at between 30 and 50 guests.

Neither one of us have family nearby, so our guests will be traveling regardless. We figure why not do it somewhere fun
