Anyone doing a 3:00 or so ceremony time, with reception at 6:30ish?

We are in love with a golf course site about 11 miles off strip, but we'd have to do the ceremony at 3:00, and my guess is by the time it's done, some pictures, back to the strip in Fri. traffic, guests would be back about 4:30.

If there ceremony starts at 6:30, One - is that too early for a reception to start at in Vegas?  Two - Is that too much of a time in between where guests will get tired, wander off, etc....?  We are thinking of getting a double decker tour if people are interested, if not, guessing they'll just find whatever to do...but will that kill the mood?

Anyone else have times for ceremony and reception in this range?

Our ceremony is at 3:00, a strip tour will follow (w/all the guests), the reception starts at 6:00 until 9:00. I'm giving folks the option to join us for an after party if they are up to it.

@TheEncoreBride - I took a look at your bio again quick, I love all your details, and you are so close, how exciting!  Are you guys doing all your pictures after the ceremony, or are you seeing each other and doing some before etc?  Are you doing the double decker bus for the strip tour?

We're staying at PH so we are taking pictures before the ceremony at PH (and hopefully Paris). We are renting a limo bus for the strip tour and lan on making 3 stops.

Normally people think gaps in time is a problem, but its Vegas! As long as your guests are the type to play a couple hands at the tables, shop or have a drink then I think your fine. Just make sure the reception is a little more casual dress so that they do not have wander around in suits and ball gowns.

We are doing the exact same thing except finishing at 6.30pm...ceremony & pictures should be done by 3.30 and we will jump on the party bus for a tour with our guests and to take pictures at a few spots. I think if you are providing some sort of entertainment it shouldn't be a problem.

our wedding is at 230..ending at 3 at Caesars with a reception at 530 at Trump...we are doing pics with Mike L in between. I think it gives the guests enough time to get down there.

We're having a 3 pm ceremony, a strip tour with the wedding party and their dates, and then the reception starts at 6. This is should be fun, since I know a lot of guests will want to stop at casinos on the way to the receptions.

@theanglfac - Well it was going to be Rhodes Ranch Golf Course, they have a new site that is on the 18th green, overlooks a little lake.

However, after reading some reviews on the course in general on Yelp and a couple of them saying that any areas that have water can really smell (seriously what the F is with locations out there with water that smell), and after emailing one of the reviews, and his email back confirming this and that he drives by there everyday and sometimes has to roll up his window.

I quit.  Why we decided to get married in Vegas is becoming to be beyond me.  (thanks for the responses on my question though).

Maybe you could stick to your original idea of the Vista Suite and just do the ceremony and reception there. I know you said you were worried about space, but so many ladies here have used it for 60 ppl and it's been fine.

Stink-- remember trying to figure out if you could fit chair/table rentals in order to have Maggiano's deliver. Good times.

June-- How many people are you inviting? I know you looked at the suite, but I had 60 ppl in there, and it was fine.

HAHA!! YEP!! Then I thought of the logistics of eating etc...and went right back to Masterpiece Cuisine :) Ahhh...Good times!

ETA: And....I also was deciding if I wanted to give up the suite and go for a restaurant! LOL. Planning a DW is not all that easy at times :)

What does water smell like?

Your going to drive yourself crazy bouncing around from idea to idea. It's hard planning a DW sometimes we've all been through it. But if you want to get married at the golf course then get married at the golf course no one is going to remember if the water smelled. If you want a suite then do a suite no one is going to remember if they didn't have a place to sit. At the end of all of this you aren't going to remember any of that either. Isn't your wedding like sometime this year? If so I wouldn't waste too much  time going back and forth. Even after your plans are set I am sure I wouldn't be the only to say I didn't still second guess myself after all was said and done or wish that I could have done something different.

Have you considered taking a break from planning? You are driving yourself nuts going back and forth. Take a few weeks off. Stop wedding planning until Febuary. Give yourself some time to relax! Everything will work out for you. Really.
Ben & I are getting married the week before you and we just started getting into planning. We arn't even setting anything in stone until after next month when we go visit my parents.

I think you said you are having a reception at home anyway why not have your wedding at home too if Vegas is bothering you?

input from a local.  usually we have our wedding receptions right after the weddding ceremony not just because of the logistic but to keep the mood flowing.  this way peeps have "x's" wedding time in their heads.  just my two cents, but it's vegas, so have fun no matter how it goes down.
