Las Vegas Convention Center - Welcome Bags

Wanted to let you gals know....I just called the convention center and talked to a woman in their marketing department.  I mentioned to her that I was having a wedding in Vegas and I would like some materials to put in the welcome bags for our guests.  Things like maps, show materials, and other advertisements on things to do.  She also offered to send me gift bags with the "Only Vegas" on them.  I haven't received the items yet BUT they are free and I thought I would share the tip.

This sounds great! I've been thinking about those welcome bags. So what did you do exactly? You just randomly called them and told them about your wedding? Curious, so if I decide to do it I know what to do. Thanks for the tip!

    Great tip.  Thanks

May I ask how you will distribute your welcome bags.  Chances are good that all of my guests won't be staying at the same hotel.  Open to suggestions.

No it wasn't totally random but I called the chamber of commerce first cause I know here where I live they would provide things like that.  They tod me that since Vegas is so large their chamber only handles business to business but the Convention Center handles the type of request I was looking for.

So, I went in semi-blind and called the convention center and they transferred me like 3 times but I got to what I beleive was there marketing deptartment.  I explained that I was having a wedding in Vegas and that I wanted to put together welcome bags for my guests.  The woman on the phone was very nice and she asked a few questions and my address and said she would ship them to me.  I assumed there was a cost but there wasn't, she never asked for anything.

Not totally sure yet, LOL.  My plan was to ship a box with the welcome bags to maybe the concierge (sp?) or front desk to someone's attention and ask for them to distribute to my reserved room block guests as they check in or put it in their rooms.  I know they will do it if I give them the items but not sure if they will allow it if I do it by mail.   If worse comes to worse I may just have to ship them to myself to the hotel and give them to the front desk.  Most of my guests are staying at the Bellagio with us.  If they aren't we're inviting everyone for a get together the night before the wedding I could give them theirs then but really my only priority is the people who have booked with us. If the others don't get them....I don't mind becuase they chose to book elsewhere.

I called yesterday. They are going to send me some items in April since that's when the 2nd quarter starts and my wedding is in June so it will have more up to date information.

I actually plan on calling them back to see if they can send them to my hotel instead or if we can pick them up when we get there.  We are going 3 days early to save the added expense of shipping them back to Vegas, doesn't really make sense.

I will probably try and hand them out at the meet/greet or drop them off at the hotels they are staying at.
